    E4300 - £99 1.80Ghz 2Mb Cache
    X6800 - £500+ 2.93Ghz 4Mb Cache

Seeing that most people I know have easily hit 3Ghz it seems pointless to me to get anything more than the E6600 but for £99 you can't go wrong on the E4300, whole lot of processor for the money. Also considering that memory prices are dropping you could get an E4300, 2 GB of Corsair DDR667 memory and a decent motherboard for under £300 it is insane, really brings in the possibility of a superb DX10 capable base unit for under £600

It's the 650i, only complaints so far is the NB heatsink runs hot as hell(admittedly the NB stays below 45c, so it cant be that bad.), in the BIOS; HD audio and LAN have their labelled switched. Which caused 2 hours of swearing at vista when I disabled HD audio and the RAM and northbridge have very odd voltage settings. admittedly i'm still on the shipping BIOS, there's probably an update out already.

I think new BIOS and a couple of heatsinks from Scan and it'll be a bargain of a board. Cant go wrong for £70.

Assuming City link arrived between the 10 mins I called my housemate and when she was going off to uni, I should be getting my replacement P5B Deluxe Wifi today

My E4300 and Corsair DDR2 667MHz are waiting

Hopefully first check to see if the board is actually not DoA this time, and then install Vista Ultimate before starting on the OC'ing

Got it priming at 3.0 with 1.35v right now. Temps are struggling to break 50 and the fans are barely spinning

Managed get mine up to 3GHz today without too much problem once I realised I was misreading the memory frequency divider in the BIOS. Nudged the voltage up a couple of notches to 1.35V. Haven't ran Orthos overnight yet, but all my benchmarking/stress tests this morning ran fine.

3.4, getting there. running out of headroom temps wise though

    Waters looking tempting again.

    EDIT:

Looks like that I'll be going for 24/7, presuming orthos doesn't throw a tantrum.

Will coretemp and TAT not work in vista yet mate? Good going though, if those voltages and temps are right

Nah they both fail. the voltage is a bit low it's closer to 1.38 in the BIOS. The CPU temp seem to be a bit bugged on this board. The cores are spot on as far as i can tell.

No Asus probe for vista either? Thats not too accurate for temps, but I found it better than everest for voltages on the E4300.

Asus probe reads the voltage higher(still lower than the BIOS) and the temps lower. swings and roundabouts tbh.

Not much is working too happily with the E4300 yet, most things mark it as an engineering sample, oddly enough.

Everest and TAT(iirc) even though it just reports all the temps as 100c.

I see, do you have xp installed anywhere so you can see if it still does it?

I'm just wondering because I've never seen anything list mine as an ES, in vista or xp, I was running RC2, but I dumped it because nothing worked (temps at 100c like yours)
