I'm just wondering because I've never seen anything list mine as an ES, in vista or xp, I was running RC2, but I dumped it because nothing worked (temps at 100c like yours)
Nah i've moved over to Vista totally now. Had someone else with a E4300 from Scan say the same(using XP+everest). I presumed it was just a glitch. Could just be some re-boxed ES I guess. I doubt there's any advantage over a normal processor.

I would think its a software bug, I know cpuz reads new cpus wrongly until they update it, so maybe everest needs an update...looking at the latest version, it shows mine as an E4300, but its shows the fsb wrong, and the multi, but it gets the overclock right

Yeah I'm pretty sure it is, I just went back to your CPU-Z shots we have the same stepping and revision.

I've managed to run mine with an 8x multi for the first time tonight, 400x8 and the ram at 3-3-3-4 its about 5 hours into orthos, but it failed 400x9 at those timings after 6.5 hours, 6 hours and 4.5 hours....which is mildly annoying.

Will yours run at 8x multi? Im not sure why it decided to work, but I'm not complaining

I'll give it a poke tomorrow, as this isn't stable above 3.4, wanna see if it's the board or the chip thats reached it's the limit.

I'm far to drunk to be playing with BIOSes right now

Runs 8x no prob. Board is the current limit, 350-370 max FSB.

I reckon with some more cooling it'll run much higher, the NB HSF is holding it back. Aluminium piece of tat. As you can see it theres a lot of bits to stick heatsinks on yet.

There's no stopping the chip, just about to prime it 3.0 with 1.25v set in the BIOS. (EDIT:Failed after 10 mins )

Ah, I didnt know the 650 had an fsb restriction like that.

Speaking of the heatsink on the NB, Ill bet that does a better job than those heatpipe ones that are on everything else, did you take it off to see if its flat? It looks very much like one that was on an MSI 975x board I had and the underneath looked like it had been saded with 40s sandpaper The trusty zalman passive will work a treat on there

I've not taken it off and checked. Don't think I'll bother tbh, Just going to replace it outright. Maybe one of those Noctuna ones, they look pretty good and easy to fit(my biggest prob with the Zalman ones) see if i can get something on the PWM's etc.

I think all it needs for higher FSB is more volts in the NB, but the current heatsink wont handle it.

Running mine in a Gigabyte GA 965P-DS3 with a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro for cooling.

Ran Prime 95 ovenight at 3.2GHz (356*9) with all votage settings on Auto, looking at the BIOS it seems that it had the CPU voltage at 1.425.

I've backed the voltage off to 1.4 and am running Orthos's small FFT's test to check it out now.

Tried 8*400 with no joy, it posted but halved the RAM speed so was only running at 1.6GHz, will fidlle with it again to see if it'll work with a lower RAM clock.

Temperatures are good, never seen above 51 degrees in Core Temp under load.

How far would you guys push the voltage on one of these?

On an unrelated note I typo'd my user name - it was supposed to be Nimrod's Son - any chance a mod would change it or should I just register another account?

I pushed it to 1.5 when I was figuring out whether the chip or the board was limiting me. As you head past 3.3 you need lots of volts for small gains. Right now i've backed off to 3.0 with 1.30v for 24/7 use til I've sorted my cooling.

As for your account, seeing as you only have 7 posts I'd just create a new one personally.

Finally got some results to post. Using an Abit AB9 Pro with 2 gigs of Corsair XMS2 @ DDR2 5300, and using a Scythe Infinity for cooling.

how much vcore are you actually using to do that?

Im @ 2.8Ghz with 1.265V actual (1.2875 in bios) which goes down to ~1.25 under load

Temps are good, maxing out at 50C with TAT on each core

I've got 1.365V if I remember correct... and the ram has 2.0V going through that. Will have to download TAT and test on there, but I was using prime 95 on both cores to test for stability.

No clues about my temps, I think the diode is mis-reporting. When I first put the chip in at stock speed, I think it said in the BIOS that it was 20C hot for the CPU. Did anyone get any figures like that when they had stock speed? Currently at 24C for the CPU according to the BIOS.

Yes, my temps are all over the place a the moment.

Core temp is reading it as 18c idle 36c load

TAT is reading it as 36c idle 46c load

Probe is a couple of C higher than coretemp, so I dunno.

Thats with 1.2875v through the cpu.

    You at 3.6 with 1.2875?

and yeah my temps are giving all kinds of crazy readings, but the heat pipes on my cooler still feel cold to the touch, so I assume they aren't too bad

No mate, that was 3.0ghz and 3.2ghz. Been having a play around with the ram timings
