    Re: EVE-Online

I'm going to bump this with my status and information on a coming change that might be interesting to some.

A while ago Eve Online introduced a free to play Alpha Clone mode where you can get up to 5.5 million Skill Points and play for free, with certain other restrictions. This gives you 3-4 months or more to play and decide if you like the game.

It was recently announced that the skill cap for Alpha clones is going to change, you will be able to use up to 20 million SP now (at least 11 months worth of training!), BUT, to actually train from 5.5 > 20 mil SP you will need to pay a subscription or buy subscription with in game currency (which is very expensive as a new player).

So the possibility exists now to play for free, sub for 7 or so months and train hard, and then unsub and keep using most all of your stuff for free, for ever. This I think is a decent Free To Play game if you do that. So the change is supposed to come in December, I wanted to let you folks know.

If you used to play and stopped, you'll be able to play for free and use up to 20 mil SP of your previous character for free, in selected skills, so you can come back in and have a decent time, fly battleships etc. So that's good.

As for me, I played Eve Beta, I played around 3.5 years across 2 chars between 2005 and now, and I've just resubbed with my main. I'm planning to keep playing a while since I am enjoying this game and it's keeping me busy and away from bad habits. If anyone can suggest a good corp for nullsec or highsec PVE I'd be interested. Or if you're currently playing, drop me a message in game, the name's Plesuvius

    Thanks!

    Re: EVE-Online

Wow, this thread is 10 years old! Interesting that I was on the first page and had just got BS Lvl5. Also says a lot that the 90% of the posts span the first 4 years, and 10% the last 6 years. No idea how many SP my character has, I last remember doing Lvl5 misisons in my carrier and had 1bil isk. Thing is, I just didn't enjoy the end game and therefore just grinding for the sake of it doesn't interest me. Back then at least, it was a lot of waiting around for any sort of PvP action without just getting ganked yourself.

    Re: EVE-Online

Having read some of the fascinating stories about the player powered events in game & then bouncing hard off the tutorial i can say Eve is the most interesting game I'll never play.
