    Re: World of Tanks

HE ammo is the best ammo to use vs higher tier tanks, always damages, knocks out modules and crew, and when penetrating well causes v high damage.

In my SU and ISU with the default guns, I used HE only with a lot of success.

    Re: World of Tanks

Edd they are talking about lower tier tanks, not TD's which have far more powerfull guns

On the T-46 apart from the 76mm the difference in damage is just 10-15 points more for HE, with penetration cut badly

The 76mm with HE is probably your best bet for the big punch with the T46
not sure about the 37mm automatic (cannot remember if I tried it on my A20), the 45 mm VT-42 is ok, it may not do much damage but the ROF is better, even if you're not doing much damage, hitting a tanks does disrupt it's aim.
As a small tank vs far bigger tanks, you can spot and supply backup more than anything else, you can sometimes use your speed to circle enemies in a one on one situation, the t46 has good turning and turret speed.
Also sneaking around the back to get at artillery and TD's from behind can work well, depending on the map.

I'm finding I'm doing ok on my T-34 with the 57mm ZiS, it's the lowest damage T34 gun, I cannot take out much on my own, but the rappid fire does let me run interfearence for the larger tanks and help chip away those few hp that can make a difference

    Re: World of Tanks

I assume the T-46 has the same 76mm that comes with the A-20? Its one tier less meaning it shoul dbe a bit overpowered.

I chose the sherman over the T-34 mainly for the 10.5cm lolcannon. Its a worse tank but that extra 3cm really counts.

Pretty much anything from a lower tier gets blown away in one shot. Killing light tanks with one shot makes me think I'm not so bad. Fed up with having to fight top tier tanks though.

    Re: World of Tanks

Finally accumulated enough XP and gold via my BT-2 exploits to unlock the Pz.IV. Just got to get another 5000+ XP to get the semi decent gun and a hell of lot more to get the really nice gun and bits.

Trying to pre-order the light package, but my PayPal and credit card are getting declined for no reason; along with a lot of other people by the looks of it on the forums. PlaySpan are absolute crap.

    Re: World of Tanks

Still not sure if I'll bother with this on release or not.

Sometimes I'll play and have a fantastic game, win or lose. Other times I think, what a pile of garbage.

Like just now, in plain open site, got a guy shooting at me from about 100 yards away, yet I cannot see him (even though I'm looking right at where his shells are coming from) and therefore can't return fire. Absolutely ridiculous.

Also the match making is getting annoying. Playing tier 3 tanks now and getting put up against multiple tier 5 tanks which I can't damage, avoid or survive a single shot from.

    Re: World of Tanks

You can fire at where the shells are coming from and still hit him. I've got a few kills (mostly arty) by doing this. The good thing about doing this with arty is that you know when you've got a hit as the shell "disappears" rather than impact with the ground.

T3 tanks can be utterly outmatched unfortunately. On the other hand, you can be top of a T1/T2/T3 game, but less often. It's the same with pretty much any tier, although it seems to get a bit better by T5, especially if you've upgraded your tank with a decent gun. This is why I like T2 tanks. You're never matched against anything higher than a T3, and most matches a closer and more fun.

Until you have tried organised Clan battles (companies) don't judge the game too harshly, company battles are a hell of a lot of fun, and really where the game excels.

    Re: World of Tanks

KV is not meant to be great and the SU-8 is artillary.

I suppose it boils down to whether you want artillary or whatever comes after the KV.

As he said, not only taht but as you get to know the maps a bit you'll start spotting certain bushes where someone will hide in every game on that map, you can actually score kills by just shooting at those bushes reguardless to if your being shot from there or not.
Of course you're firing blind so you've no idea if you're hitting or just waisting ammo shooting at an empty bush.

However many people, who hide and snipe, will move if there are shells coming near them and seek hard cover, so you can actually flush them out of good spots through random fire.

Also might explain why I almost run out of ammo with my TD on some maps.

After playing and chatting with Domestic Ginger last night, I can say that direct teaming like that add a new dimention to the game.

I'm going to start a Hexus channel so if anyone wants to get together it'll make it easier.

You mean dying quite early and then getting a lesson in Pob mad skills annihilating the opposition team one by one?

If I'm around then I'll try and get on. 2 days left until the due date!

    Re: World of Tanks

It was a rather odd experience. 14 or 15 of us in T4-T7 TD's being put against T8-10 heavies... we couldn't dent them. Rather pointless experience, but a bit of fun dying all the time.

I guess it will change when it's released as we'll all be on the same playing field (except those who purchase gold). Will see what it's like then.
