    Re: World of Tanks

I think the Luchs is probably my most 'fun' tank to play. I love zipping around behind enemy lines giving enemy arty a poke in the ribs and running off giggling.

The Leopard is faster with much better armour but almost always gets matched in high tier games, whereas the Luchs gets put in low tier games half the time giving you a nice mix of scouting and/or swift lowbie killing.

I'll have a Luchs in my garage again for definite.

Well, you were right. However, for some reason it's great at generating credits. Currently have the premium account activated and can usually earn 15k a match easily.

Have you tried the other premium tanks? They're all fairly rubbish in one way or another. If they were too good they'd just be an easy 'I win' button taking away the whole point of putting the effort in to get decent tanks from XP.

No, I'm not bothered about premium tanks at all. I would rather they were a little bit naff, their advantage is in the fact that they don't cost as much to run.
Nope, never bothered to buy any premium tanks. Spend all the gold on premium or exp conversion.

Might give the Leichter Loewe a go if it comes out before the release and I have enough gold. Can't really be bothered to get IS4, Minimaus, Object 704 or T30 anymore. Takes too long and I don't have the time. T34 and it's cannon already took me 2 months of sporadic gaming.

    Re: World of Tanks

Well I got my T34 today and upgraded my terrible T2 medium tank for a not much better M2 medium tank
Also did a bit with the PzKpfw II I really hate those flack guns, they may have a very high listed ROF but because you fire in bursts with high muzzle climb only the first one or two shots have much chance of hitting, for very low damage then you've got to wait for almost as long as a normal cannon before you can fire the next burst.
I've taken up the PzII because it leads onto the spg branch and the short light branch and medium and heavy branches, although I got so sick of the flak gun that I stopped after unlocking the Wespe SPG, need to build up a few more credits before I get it though.

Still having issues with hiding and TD's really need balancing like SPG's have, minimum of 1 per side and no more the +1 on ether side, with a max number on any map
ie, if one team has 1 td on it the the other team must have at least 1 td and no more that 2.
This really shows on the lower tier matches, I had a game the the other side had 5 td's on it and we had none, in light vs light tank battles it's around 3-4 hits to kill, where as a low tier TD only requires 1-2 hit against a low tier tank.
Further more the light tanks are fairly inaccurate, so there's a big accuracy jump too.

On other thing I spotted, after a couple of hours playing my game started dropping down to medium textures, due to low memory.
in part xp's memory handling, but because it came in over time that that screams memory leak to me.
Then I spotted something else, WoT is only Single Core I though something was wrong so I double checked, yep there is currently no multi-core support.
So overclocking and a faster cpu is what's wanted currently not lots of cores.
Also multi-gpu support is near non-existent.

That explains why I was only getting 30fps on a 6870 cf setup then. I've also had the texture issue - a reload fixed it but shouldn't really happen.

I also had the same problem when I first played. I've turned the textures down and haven't had a problem since. I've also started down the German tank route after being disappointed in the KV. I think the issue is that the armour stat doesn't take into account the slope, and since the KV is flat all round it gets damaged too easily. I actually found the T2 battles quite refreshing. As you said, the German tank's gun isn't that brilliant, but it did enough to unlock T3. I might keep a BT-2 after release and pump it out for fun!

    Re: World of Tanks

I'm starting to find the xp points a bit of a bind. I'm on a su-26 (t2/t3 i guess) after playing with it for 4 days, I only have 3600xp and need around 13500 for the next level up..... With the 50-200 points a battle, its going to take an age and the next levels after that makes getting 13k look like nothing.

Am I missing something or should it take this long?

I think it is like that unfortunately. You can buy a premium account for 50% xp boost or use a elite tank to buy free xp from it.

Or course you could join the l33t but unfortunately I can't help with that!

    Re: World of Tanks

That's just how it works, if it was too easy to get xp without a premium account then there'd either be no need for premium or it'd be way overpowered. It's a good business model intended to make cash out of the game, you certainly can play it for free but you'll always be playing catchup and the xp grind is intended to make you say, "oh what the hell I'll spend a tenner on some gold to get that next tank quicker"

Ya think the M2s bad wait till you get the M3 lee its god awful, has a limited firing arc like a tank destroyer making it a pain to use, and requires 13k XP to get to any of the next levels from their.

Also tends to put you in battles with KVs, IS, T1s which you can't hurt lol

    Re: World of Tanks

Nah I'm enjoying the M2 so far, it's the T2 that's soooooo spody for a medium tank, the reason for that is of course that it's a tier 2 tank, you couldn't put a standard medium tank in with the rest of the tier 2 lights that would be unbalanced.
the T2 also has great things like having the engine in the front, with a massive intake grill (tip if you come up against one go for the front between the tracks, you can destroy it in 2 shots with a tier 1)

Not sure about the M3 Lee, I know there was some mention of the dev's wanting to get the turret working so you'd have two guns but that's way down the list of things to do.
When you look at the M2 you can easily see the roots and thinking behind that tank, 4 spindle mount machine guns, open topped turret, it's an infantry support weapon and like most of the early US tanks the thinking behind it was very out of date.

@1stRaven, yes the grind really starts kicking in around tier4, I've not played with a SPG yet but those numbers seem low for a premium account, my guess would be that you're not doing enough.
Make sure your radio is maxed out, if the tanks at the front of the battle are out of radio range then they'll not be feeding you target data.
Also depending on map it's often a good idea to move forward slightly, don't move to the far back of the map.
I'd also same the same the same thing to TD's, a really get annoyed at those td's who hid at the far back of the map, because you cannot snipe at what you cannot see and your reliant on the tanks in front to spot for you, but if you're so far back that you're out of radio range then you'll not get that spotting data.

    Re: World of Tanks

I got my Wespe SPG today, artillery takes a bit of getting used to And already I've hit a couple of times when I need my radio upgrade, but it's 3500 credits and I'm only making 300ish on a good game
That and I want to beat my two loaders with stick until they load that gun faster!
I'm buying my crew/training them with credits now to start out at 75%, still not got any crew to 100%
Best so far is my muder2 driver and captain at 82% gunner at 88% (I transfered him from my panzerjager and he was the only one I trained up to 75% in that TD)

PS 3 day premium account over the week end so it just cost 650gold, i'll not go premium for the rest of the week, that should give me 1000gold to play with
