Yeah, but I didn't mention that part because you already knew about it!
It also means you can jump straight to that system in the map - While it's nice that they now show ship locs in the galaxy map too, I'd personally not relish scrolling around 400 billion systems trying to remember where the hell I parked...

Finally managed to get a couple of hours in with v1.04. Love the new changes to the sound. Saw loads of other commanders tonight and put the route planner to use by making the pilgrimage to Sol/Earth. Unfortunately my PC is playing up, every time I hit Alt the computer goes to sleep. No screenies for me till I fix this!

spent some time last night cashing in bounty's, have grabbed a cobra and started upgrading it. Had a couple of really good battles against criminals, lost a couple oh ships chasing large bounty's.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

I find that sticking 4 gimbaled multi cannons on my cobra really does some good damage hunting bounties. Allows you to keep 3 bars on my Shields, 2 on engines and 1 on weapons. Those cannons don't overheat much if you get of a full clip.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

Costs a fortune to run though - very ineffective against shields, especially ones that are upgraded. A more balanced loadout with thermal and kinetic is more effective.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

Not to bad to be honest. A full set of ammo can grab me between 60k and 80k. Between that and scanning planets, works out OK.

As for the shield, does take a bit longer but I don't overheat as much. I did use 2 cannon and 2 lasers however felt it wasn't as good.

Ha, that gets old really...really quickly. USS's are a rubbish implementation and need to be sorted out sooner than later.

Believe me once you've dropped into the 50th USS and seen your 15th wedding/funeral/Mineral Magpie/Tech Acquisition then you'll stop doing them.

I'll be honest, I'm kind of hanging back with E: D for now till it gets some more meat on its bones. It just feels a bit....'empty' for me right now and mostly boils down to space trucking.

When you die, you end up at the Insurance page, where there are three basic options:

1/. Start again with a free (loaned*) Sidewinder at whichever base you first started at.
2/. Rebuy your old ship, at the last place you docked.
3/. Rebuy your old ship and any/all the upgrades you just lost, back at the last place you docked.

You usually lose any cargo, bounty vouchers, combat bonds and exploration data, but your balance should still be there, I believe.

I'd have to check, as I've not taken it myself, but Option 1 might be a complete financial restart (as in a ship, a handful of credits and that's it) while retaining your rep/criminal status (wiping that requires a complete restart from the main menu).
I also seem to recall there being a Declare Bankruptcy option, which might account for losing everything...?

Failing that, you have a loan limit of 200,000 Cr with the insurance company.
If the cost of replacing your ship is more than 200,000 and you don't have enough money to do it even with that loan, then your only option is to take that Free Sidewinder and start all over again with 1,000 Cr.

Moral of ^that one is to always keep enough Cr in your account to rebuy your current ship + kit. You can open the Right UI and see the Rebuy Cost at any time.

*10% of all your income from restart onward will be automatically deducted until you have repaid the cost of the loan ship and equipment.
I can't stomach dying on purpose but I will shadow play the next time i die.

Would love to know some details of that.

Have got a route myself but im not sure what the total per route cash is as not had time to run the full route yet (came up with it yesterday).

I started will a smallish route that was fairly fast for around 500k a run in the cobra and just been upgrading it like crazy. Pretty much got everything i want on it now.

Got about 20ly jump distance when full from a A 4 jump drive, is there a ship that has a bigger jump distance in? I know the type 7 has a 5 slot but an A 5 only gives you about 22ly a jump. Don't know if the type 9 can do better but its getting to the point where to make money faster i need to cut down the number of jumps as everything is is pretty much optimised for max cash now.

Ideally eventually i want to do some fighting using the upgraded cobra and have a seperate trade workhorse (also cause i dont want to keep paying 400k everytime i die in the cobra)

Good - Right now the options are pretty much ferrying cargo for a few hundred CR, finding illegal stuff at USSes for about 10,000 Cr, killing loads of ships for 15,000 or hunting some big-ass Elite Anaconda for 180,000 Cr.

Needs much more in between, so people can progress up from Sidewinders.

I find that if I stay in SC in an anarchy system - the USS instances seem to be more pirate v police. I have seen less canisters, funeral barge, tech or wedding parties in anarchy than "normal" sectors.

I have tried a number of the tools - it depends on you take - I used to use an excel spreadsheet - when visiting each station I would list the prices. I now use Slopey's tool in OFFLINE mode - so none of the data collected by other CMDRs appear on my DB (Yes mine is uploaded) - I back up the DB prior to starting just in case the auto-update with new version happens. But I get to see best routes nearby based on where I have been - I do not view it as cheating - as it is my data.

I use 2 D2 beams + 2 Gim Multi-Cannons - need to roll to get best fire coverage because of field of fire limitation - but can be done. So ammo for hull and if trying to jump out, but D2 will significantly dent sidey, eagle, hauler and encourage any viper, adder etc to be somewhere else.

I am not sure - why - I would suggest either selling some equipment - try going around the local stations and seeing their high demand/supply states. You could ask or use the trading tools to start you off with a bit of profit. I would look for a local <6LS cargo run - the sidey only has 2 or 4 cargo space. Once you start to build up and upgrade modules - make certain you have enough insurance creds. The last thing before leaving a station is - status - 1st page - rebuy insurance = ? - The cargo is lost, so often, make sure you can buy some more.
