    Re: Elite : Dangerous

I also played my first weekend session. Managed to get around 3 mil cr in the bank, with a Type-6, Cobra, Hauler and my orignal Sidwinder stored (I'm sentimental! )

I made most of my money on a trade route between Adeo and Duwali, netting 2000cr/ton round trip. Can only do 102 tons in the Type-6 or I can't do it one jump.

Last thing last night, I dropped half a mil on a Viper and decided to give combat a go via Bounty Hunting. Managed an Eagle and Sidwinder so far for 6000cr total, snagging the Eagle with an interdictor. However, need to read up a bit more as I spent most of my time flying around trying to find said fights.

Best thing for getting bounties is getting a kill warrant scanner and hang around resource extraction sites. Pirates tend to pop in regularly (watch out you don't clip a neutral (inc. the fuzz) as they dont forgive and you will get yourself a wanted status).

If as a wonky aimed noob I manage to do just that (I haven't yet, but give it time...) then how do you safely pay off your criminal status? I presume you will get jumped if you try and dock with a space station?

Find an independent station, you should be OK there, or go in hot and fast and hope!

Shame, really, as I utterly hate the throttle and the mass of hats on that joystick, despite how well the latter is made!

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

As a bounty hunter I quite often have 'brushes' with the law. In the future FDev's have said so long as there isn't hull damage caused and the amount of damage done to the shield is small, it won't trigger the fine/bounty. So there's hope for the future.

In the meantime, since I'm a lazy sod and can't be doing with finding an outpost (no security ships buzzing about at outposts) I tend to do the following:

    Drop into the station location.
Turn and burn so I'm about 20km away.
    Align with the station.
Disable everything apart from life support and power.
Watch temps plummet, and the ship get icy.
    Turn FA off.
Engage thrusters briefly to start ship moving forward, then turn thrusters back off.
    Drift.
    Drift a bit further.
At 7.5km fire up sensors and get permission to dock
At 5km fire up the thrusters and hit Silent Running.
Dock as normal but with 'pace', i.e flat out.
    Re-enable all the disabled modules.
    Pay off fine.
    Go back and kick ass!

Just don't do what I did and forget to request docking permission. Or sneak in close, get scanned and hit the boost just as I entered the dock entrance.

Yep, had a warrant scanner. Picked up the Sidewinder at a Nav Beacon and I think my auto-cannons glanced someone else who was also shooting him. Next thing I saw was two more red targets on the scanner and I decided to get the hell out of there! However, I had a 500cr fine (that might have been from a failed mission though) but otherwise no issues docking at the independant station within the system I was in.

Just for clarificaiton, this is all in Solo mode, so it's against NPC's only.

Done that a few times. I have even entered a Base while in silent mode and accidentally hit boost and hit the back wall and blew up. 97k later.

Damnit why does the in game comms never seem to work? It seemed to for the first week or so of launch and then nothing since. I think Lowe sent me a comm message saying hello and I couldn't send anything back.

Bet he thinks I was I just being a dick!

I been trading but feels grindy I don't feel part of the elite universe yet maybe needs more in it. Its a solid game with good foundations they just need to fill it and balance. Smuggling seems fun but I can get more trading regular goods. You need as massive intensive for smuggling risk reward.

Kanoe, no worries - I'd tried about 10 times to say hello so wasn't surprised when I didn't get a response ha!

It's defiantly a little flaky to say the least at the moment.
