    Re: Elite : Dangerous

I've just started playing again this last week. I'm really struggling. Mostly as i can't bind some of the controls. Anyone got a way round it? Tech support is a little slow.
For example, i can't bind 'landing gear' to any control so i have to go through the UI. Even though in options it has primary as a button on the joystick, and secondary as 'G' on the keypad. They don't work.
Yet if i were to bind 'g' to target front. Which i know will take a change of control then it works.
It's a real problem when trying to get involved in a scrap when next fire group and also any target select option that isn't target front doesn't work....

OK how do I find black boxes? I took a mission to search a system for them, and I've been at it for hours. I've explored about a dozen unidentified signal sources and they don't have it yet

Hmm well I went to the named system as indicated on the Galaxy Map, no sign of it. Had enough of being fired on (I can't take on two vipers) so went off exploring again.

Also I don't quite get why NPCs are shooting at me for not giving them my cargo.. I don't have any cargo. Can't they scan me and find out?

NPCs aren't always that bright, or not always equipped with scanners perhaps

So Horizon's releases tomorrow. But more importantly for me since I don't have it, patch 1.5 comes out. What's FD's record like when it comes to big patches? Should I give it some time to settle?

You'll probably experience some server login issues for 24 hours, but it normally settles down pretty quickly.

They may have changed this since I last did such missions, but I think they're now in the Salvageable Wreck signals or perhaps the Weak Signal Sources, rather than the USSes...

I checked them too. The only ones I didn't explore were the strong signal sources, because, newbie.

So I didn't realise people with Horizons can now craft ammo with damage bonuses unavailable to vanilla players. Even more reason to avoid PvP

Actually picked up to 22MB/s. From what I understand they use AWS to host the patches, so speed should be pretty decent.

4.5MB/s is my download speed max anyway The grr was having to do a full download after the launcher updated.. and then another full download of this version to hit 1.5.

edit: make that three downloads now. They fixed the 64bit one

That's quite disappointing. *edit, although i must admit thinking about it. I don't think i've ever got into a fight with another player. I've spent plenty of time flying around a super cruise too and scanning for 'wanted' people, and never actually found another player flying around the systems. I see a few going into/out of space stations but that's it. I always play open but other players just don't seem to be part of the game for me at the moment.....

What does the update actually give you in terms of gameplay? I've seen you can now land on planets. But to what end? How do you make money doing that?
I assume as i'm not running the game through steam i'll be forced to buy the inflated version from Frontier too? a tad too pricey at the moment.
