Re: Who's still playing WoW then?

Haven't played for about 2 weeks thanks to EVE taking up most of my time, however I noticed somewhere that 4.0.1 had gone live... so I ran the updater, the 5+ GB patch had already been downloaded, but it took FOREVER to install (seriously, took almost 2 hours) and once it had finished it changed the Launcher and started to download another 500MB or so patch, but after it downloaded 100MB of it, it allowed me to log in.

Wow, there's some pretty major changes already. All new talent points, reforging, new class mechanics, mastery, justice points... just so much!

Only logged into my DK for the moment, but had a good look around at all the new things. Setup my DPS talents (talent tress seem good, but a bit too easy, was pretty easy to decide which points were the best from the tree), looked at new skills, checked out new water graphics (for some reason, running on Ultra now provides much better FPS than before, even with updated water graphics). Looking forward to checking out my Druid and Hunter next!

Anyone else enjoying the new patch? Got any gripes? (seen lots of whines about this patch already)

Re: Who's still playing WoW then?

Got it all downloaded and installed install took much longer then the download.

First up got my Shaman specced up. Enh/Resto

Found Resto to be about the same, though with the changes to chain heal, I couldnt just chain heal spam like before.

Enh, dude wheres my mana? It was ok, as others have commented I was standing around white dpsing waiting for CD's to finish. I need to get recount and SAA so I can see what my dps is like. I seem to see bigger numbers on my yellow hits but there is certainly less of them.

Spriest, just retalented and ran a regular HC. Seemed the same as before, slighly higher numbers.

When running HC's we noticed that if you dont DPS the MT target you will pull aggro. Threat generation for tanks seems to have gone way down.

I talented my DK but didnt do anything with him.

Talented the Tard, seems ok need to get soem addons to see whats actually happening.

Guild mates warrior is rubbish, I think they broke them. Had to listen to him whine all night on vent.

Yeah, there's a lot of imbalance at the moment, there's a blue post on the forums about it, won't link it as some might not be able to view it from work.

    1) We think Fury, Arms, Feral cat and Retribution dps is too low and we will be buffing them.

    2) We think mage dps is too high, especially Fire, and will be nerfing it.

    3) We think Shadow priest dps is too high, but that's largely a result of Shadow Word: Death spam, which is tough on healers. We'll be fixing that.

    4) We think Destro warlock dps is too high, but that's largely a result of Searing Pain spam, which is tough on tanks. We'll be fixing that.

    5) As we suspected, PvP dps is just too high given that the health pools of Cataclysm haven't kicked in yet. While competitive PvP is over for the moment, we still want the environment to feel better so we will be buffing resilience. This change might be reverted at level 85.

There will probably be more changes after another night of raiding and BGs. Many of the bug fixes we have made today will affect dps as well. Stay tuned.
I will hopefully go through my other chars tonight and try some heroics, maybe a raid (but with lockouts on bosses now, rather than on 10/25 mans seperately, guild may not be happy with me getting locked out if they need me).

Sorry, never heard of WoW Anonymous...

If you wanna come back and play one of your previous 80's, I'd do it now, otherwise just wait until Cata is released, only 7 weeks, 4 days and 7 hours to go (yes, I am counting).

Re: Who's still playing WoW then?

We have an icc run tomorrow night so will see how it goes. Something tells me I am going to be healing (which I hate tbh). Though our prot pala's suddenly liking healing so i might get let off the hook. They all seem to be scared they wont be able to hold aggro.

Had this really annoying pug boomkin last night. Over 6K GS pumping out 13k DPS, he just kept pulling aggro an wouldnt listen. Lucky he was standing close to the tank as I refused to heal him but kept soaking up heals from my chain heal spammage.

Re: Who's still playing WoW then?

The new cinematic [2:33] has gone up for Cataclysm. Looks awesome.

Got my first character to 80 last week, soloing a dwarf warrior. Haven't done a whole lot of instances as despite me obviously participating in a multi-player game, I'm not really one for playing with randoms. I've got the guild part sorted, just need to get on and respec that talent tree.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

Re: Who's still playing WoW then?

Not gonna watch it, will wait until release to enjoy it in full.

Got 80 on my Hunter over the weekend, has been sitting at 78 for ages, however finally levelled him up in just a few hours thanks to rested exp and LFD. I must say, I'm much more of a fan of the new Hunter system now, no more OOM. Also loving the new JP system, a few hours after hitting 80 I picked up my first piece of t10! I hope it's not that easy in Cataclysm though.

I think I'm going to give up on tanking until Cataclysm unless they fix the issues in game though. The problem is, my DK tank has changed dramatically, and it's much harder now due to being a priority instead of a rotation. So, on top of watching the group positioning, keeping an eye out for adds, positioning bosses/groups, trying to keep AoE threat above the stupidly high levels of AoE dps that everyone is doing since the patch we now have to watch out for procs and cooldowns... It's bad enough just trying to keep agro right now, let alone all of this at once.

Re: Who's still playing WoW then?

Would somebody please enlighten me as to the new JP instancing mechanics.

Used to be 2 Bonus frostys + 1 per boss for Heroic
    2 Frostys for Direbrew (Bonuses)
2 Bonus Trimphs for non Heroic

Now I must be honest I'm a little confused, apparently no JP's for the headless horseman?
And totally unsure as to what 5 mans offer..................

Re: Who's still playing WoW then?

The first run of the Headless Horseman gives you a bag, sometimes the bag contains extra goodies like the mount, but it will always contain 24 Justice Points (unless of course you are at, or over, the cap of 4k). Since they aren't actual items anymore, the bag may appear empty if you don't get any extra goodies. Check your chat screen when you open the bag next time, it should announce your JP received.

5 mans now offer the following:

    Daily Normal random: 12JP
    Daily Heroic random: 23JP
    Heroic boss: 16JP

    Raids offer the following:

    Boss: 23JP
    Weekly raid: 138JP

In Cataclysm, the lowest reward will be 75 JP and that will be for daily normal random and each normal boss kill, so heroics should give you a bit more.

Re: Who's still playing WoW then?

Also remember the 4k is just a soft cap at the moment, so you can actually have over 4k from the initial emblem of frost/triumph conversion but wont be able to gain anymore on that character until you drop below 4k and then it'll cap at 4k. Blizz did also say they plan to introduce a hard cap before cataclysm too but didnt give much info on it, so keep in mind that a stage may come where blizz says "ok, you've had a month and a half to spend the excess over the 4k cap, and if you've not spent them by now you're losing them as everyone is going to a max of 4k"
