    Re: Photo-a-day

Cropping won't do anything to the bokkeh (apart from draw attention to it) - heavy PP can mess it up, in particular local contrast enhancements like the LR Vibrance slider, but that's really wiry... I'm not a fan of the beercan - I had 2 and sold them both. Great value for under 100quid (well, it used to be), but equally, performance only a little in excess of a lens that costs less than 100quid. The beercan's bokkeh is prone to exactly the same type of specular highlighting I'm seeing from your 70-300 - it's just that most people eulogise it and that it's built up a huge rep.

    Re: Photo-a-day

tbh the only people who worry about bokeh are pedantic photographers who need to pick holes in the smallest of things on photographs.. joe public isn't going to know the difference

how many people commented on the bokeh at your expo brammers?

you did well to capture a seagull in flight Ben

We're gonna have to disagree Bobster - otherwise surely mirror lenses would be all the rage?

    Re: Photo-a-day

I passed Gloucester on the Birdlip road today. The view was very good with not much haze.

    BIG PANORAMA PHOTO

These next two photos show the difference when using a polariser. They both had a polariser attached but it was turned to different angles for each one.

The other day I got this photo in the car because I am a nerd.

This is one from our old car when it got to 100,000 miles. It tried to kill dad when the brakes failed in October. He was only doing about 10mph up the road, though.

Good to see the old faces are still about though!
I can never seem to stop using my cats as willing subjects and here is one of them sitting at the window enjoying the weekends sunshine.

    Love that Dubai shot BTW.

I agree with funkstar, the colours on that shot are really nice. Can see some noise, were you shooting at quite a high ISO (I can imagine a studio is not necessarily the best lit of places)
