After that much alcohol on New Years, you would believe you could hand hold 1/2 second exposures at 80mm EFL as well...
looks like you'll have to use the micro adjustment on the 50D to help the bigma.. do some testing with a tripod and subjects at distance, use the AF, then when it thinks it has a lock, turn AF off and hit the live view button - then zoom in to see if it grabbed focus..

Well on the train today the driver informed us that in the tunnel ahead of our stop was an icicle that came from the ceiling of the tunnel that reached to 2 foot above the ground and was several feet thick (it came from the ventilation shaft). I had smashed the window of a train that morning
Some people found better ways of getting around

This Robin was a model I think. This was shot with an 80mm focal length!! I was about 2 feet away!
On New Year's Day, a stroll around the local area:
(The tracks in the last one are from people on skis, it's a common form of transport even on flat areas around here.)
