Oh right missed that post sorry. Don't think I've ever managed to confuse Typhoons with another fighter before, I was viewing the webpage through a tiny, low-res mobile phone screen though and the outilne is fairly similar from that angle.

Yeah, the chin-intakes means people often confuse them. I'm going to guess (probably wrongly! ) by the config on them (3 fuel tanks, no armaments) that this was during the operation to get them down there and the picture was taken from one of the tankers?
more messing around with macro
my l33t skills
seriously though, all macro lenses are generally extremely sharp. Combine with flash, careful focusing and stopping down the aperture generally good results will follow

Some from last year
YorkieBen, how are you getting on with that macro ring flash you bought on Ebay - has it turned out to be a good purchase?
no its not stuffed... damn Robins, swear they know when im pointing a large lens at them..

Good picture Bob , really like that.
Yeah, I've noticed robins do tend to pose for photos for some reason...
the macro flash is working well, makes lighting macros a piece of cake!
Bobster do you have any particular technique for shooting through double glazing to prevent loss of contrast/reflections etc? Or do you use a polariser to help cut out the reflections?
Finally how do you find the sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 with a teleconverter - does the tc affect the image quality/focus speed much?
WRT minimising reflections, putting the lens as flat against the glass as is humanly possible always helps. Bit tricky with big lenses, but easily doable.
the 70-200 is a little sluggish when used with the 2X tele
but am still able to get shots like this with it
oh and pushing the lens against the glass removes most reflections and a tweak of curves brings the contrast back
