I guess I mean that they might mean more to you, having been to the places you've taken a picture of, than to us looking on from the outside. It's not meant to be a criticism by the way, just an observation. But as an example, what was your thought process for taking the picture of the ferry, or what made you want to take the photo etc?
i dunno. maube its because i wanted to a picture of something with a lot of colour and variation and that ferry had a lot of variety in it.
i dont know am i rambling nonsense lol because im not an artistic photograther
i will post more pics later on a seperate thread.
All pics taken from the stock lens. do you think i can still produce better image quality on the above pics with the stock lens or have i finally reach the stock lens full potential?
i dont want to buy a £300 lens if i dont make good use of it for example.
before you splash your cash on a lens, if you are interested in taking your photography further, think about joining a local camera club (usually start up around the beginning of Sept - they have summer off..) talk to some people, and learn to use your camera and what you can achieve with it

That's cool then It's what it means to you that's important.
I think you're getting fantastic pictures from a kit lens. Can't see anything wrong with them at web resolutions that a better lens by itself would improve. The only thing is whether you find yourself wishing you had a longer or shorter focal length to get the scene that you wanted. Once you've built up experience at your favourite focal lengths you can work out whether you're limited by the quality or not.All pics taken from the stock lens. do you think i can still produce better image quality on the above pics with the stock lens or have i finally reach the stock lens full potential?

(Admittedly I bought an extra lens straight away, but that was the ultra wide angle to increase coverage, not because I didn't like the kit quality -in fact all my decent shots so far have been taken with the kits rather than the WA).
yea well at times i wished i had a better range with my shots as going up to 55mm on the stock lens is not close enough for my liking
For example i was on top fo the eiffel tower(well first floor lol) and wanted to zoom in and take pics but at 55mm its weak
if i was to get a new lens it would be something with a huge range such as this http://www.photozone.de/canon-eos/29...report--review
Certainly, if you wanted a stay on the camera type lens. Or you could simply get the other kit lens cheaply (55-250) which comes with stabilisation which is very handy at the long end.
I'm in New Zealand for a week. These had a quick edit on a laptop, so colours/contrast might not look right. I'll have to look at them properly when I get home.
Sydney Airport at about 6am on Monday.
Auckland at about 5pm.
These were stitched together but not very well. Canon's Photostitch always puts a squiggly line along the join. It's not noticeable at this size but anything much bigger is quite obvious. There's a white dot in the centre-right part of the photo. That's a child, although they're not supposed to go in the crater.
And just for fun, this is a car at a vets around the corner from where we're staying. It's quite famous around the world now. But it looks like it hasn't moved for a long time and it has no number plate so it might not be registered any more.
I was contemplating bringing my tripod, seeing as my luggage was only 11kg, but I didn't in the end. I think the only place it would be useful was on Mt Eden and One Tree Hill, but we're not planning on spending a long time up them.
I've seen the 24-105mm F4L is about £110 cheaper here. Tempting, but no.
Arsenal should sign this player
These two getting a bit cosey
Mount Eden is an extinct volcano. I remember going down into the crater when I was 4 or 5 with my dad and he had to carry me out. I used to live in Auckland in the Mount Eden area. They've since banned people from leaving the paths around the hill. It's something to do with preservation or safety.
had a clean bill of health from the dentist, so I've taken a piccy of the hero of the hour
Plus boredom + macro lens = above pic
Kid have you got a bigger version of that pano online?
Not online, but I could sort one out some time.
Today I went for a walk in the Waitakere hills. It's thick rainforest there and we had a pleasant walk around a track. It was a bit too thick to get decent photos of the enormous kauri trees. I bet it's fantastic in Summer when the greens are stronger.
