Different lens (nifty fifty) - and I haven't done the micro-adjustment for the Tamron - I tried and thought it was back-focusing - but then tried it out properly and found that no adjustment looked better.
Focal point on this one is supposed to be the two dark spiky bits just below the scar on the seed pod. f = 2.0 so very narrow DoF - don't know if you still think it looks forward focused?
Just got back from a nice holiday and I was pleasantly surprised that my point and click produced this:
Does anyone have any suggestions for post production before I get it printed?
At the risk of been beaten up for suggesting something too simple, try the new Windows Live photo editor (free)

and some howtos

Make a copy of the file, and start editing it (always make a copy first!), try the Auto Adjust and see how it changes the colour temp, then start playing with the slider till you get something you like. Remember it always prints darker than your screen will be showing, so don't be affraid with a print version to really over emphasis the detail (such as the red in the rocks at the front, dialing up the brightness would do that).
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)

That's nice mate. On my screen it doesn't look like you've lost much detail on the rocks due to underexposure but you could try lightening the darks a little perhaps.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

I've never even printed anything out yet but I might have a dabble at that.
