Oh good god
What kit are you using for these shots Bob, any additional lighting, tripod etc? They're just incredibly sharp for what must be really tricky lighting conditions. Fancy doing a tutorial on it?

i know its a photo-a-day thread, but i'll just throw another in
couple of 20D's, 1 with 28-75 2.8 Tamron and the other with 70-200 2.8 sigma.. no additional lighting (would spoil the atmospheric lighting) - Tripod?! gotta be joking..
all in the timing, and yes its quite tricky shooting gigs.. specially when you have people all around you not wanting to budge from their bagged spot..
nope..

dunno about bob, but i usually shoot between 200-400 shots on a gig night (2-4 bands) and about 50% are publishable.
usually end up showing about 10-20 of each band when im done

50%!? Seriously? And at a 'publishable' level? That's amazingly good for gig sets....

yeah seriously...
Ive not done too many gig photos. but the first gig i ever did was an all dayer, and i took 700 photos (14 bands), and only the first 3 photos came out blurry, after that every one was in focus and the perfect exposure...
im not too good at taking photos in the light, but gimme a dark stage and i seem to find the exposure really easy.

example of my last band shot (well, the support band anyways):
i seemingly took 95 photos throughout thier 45 minute set, and they can all be viewed if you go to www.stegough.com - /hdatv/
they havent been edited, just converted from raw > jpeg and sized to 800px along the longest edge...
so you can see an example of how many bad shots i get...
even the ones with stuff in the picture which shouldnt be there can be "edited" slightly afterwards, especiallyw ith raw capabilities to add to it...
so have a gander and see what you think of my unedited beauties

bugger, it seems converting them from RAW to jpeg they have all taken a turn towards coming out darker... - they must have imported my last used settings in raw and gone dark...
ah well, either way, you can see my pictures, theyre just a bit darker than shot.
