Not a good quality pic as this was taken on my phone (LG U990). Seems to get lots of noise...but hey, it's another macro shot

Not at all - great pic. I love the background, really makes the subject clear.
Very impressive for a phone shot! Doesn't look noisy to me, just incorrect colour balance, poor bokeh and some blown highlights - all of which you find in even expensive point and shoots with that kind of shot.
Much easier to catch this beast on camera than a dragon fly or the like though! They don't seem to move quite as quick.
I love this time of year

a very quick edit from a wedding today. Shame i blew the sky
A lot of visually impressive & high quality photos, quite surprised to find such a thread here. Good source of inspiration.
I tried to get a pic of this fuzzy critter, but couldn't compose the shot properly. He kept moving around so focus isn't great, and no macro at the moment, just the kit lens.
And this plant he sits on, the seeds explode out of pods, and shoot every where if you knock them. Does anyone know what they are called?
Trying some close up filters

ahh, i never knew about these! i just seen hoya ones...they range from +1 to +4...which one would be worth me getting if i was only to buy one for now, im guessing +4 lets you get closer shots, but has more edge distortion?
Had to dig out my David Attenborough Life Collection boxset, not sure exactly what plant you're thinking of, but I guess it's one of these starting at 5:00

Any chance you could post a test shot with and without the filter on please?
I was thinking about getting some (dunno what the ones from eBay or dealextreme are like since they're well under £20 and seems like a good bet for a cheap macro solution).
Also, how much should i pay for a CPL filter? Since the cheap ones just seem to cut reflections, how much are the filters that actually work for deepening skies, etc?
