Really? It looks in focus to me - sharpness at the 1:1 pixel level is excellent considering.

Got it in the sale for £450, made a bit of a profit on a couple of 2nd hand lenses which contributed towards it. Plus it was Christmas time (that’s how I justify it to myself!!)

Alot more expensive than my other lenses but I like it

    Yorkie, was antishake switched off?

It's complicated, as this isn't always the case, but AS on a tripod can have a detrimental effect on sharpness. It's just something you have to get into the routine - set ISO, set aperture, set SS, compose, focus, MLU, AS off...

And then turn it on again when you're back to normal!

    yes switched off anti-shake

the A200 doesn't have MLU for some stupid reason...

    I did focus manually btw

    Re: Photo-a-day

Not even built into the 2 second timer? Lack of MLU could well be the cause of some of that softness - it really does make a huge difference at 100% crop level. Guess you'll be wanting an a700 then

    Re: Photo-a-day

Dont mention the A700, getting very tempted by the body only price!! But then I also think oooo I could do with a superwide as well. And a fast telephoto (the tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 is a decent price as well).

I'm thinking of enforcing a ban on myself re: lens and equipment upgrades for at least six months but then with the exchange rate at the moment the prices are as good as they are going to be force a while imo. Will have a look at the bank balance at the end of the week.

Wow, haven't been on here for a while Lens is Canon f1.8 50mm. I know I'm not nailing the focus, I think I'll try it on manual next time. There really wasn't any lighting to speak of, so I had to really bump the ISO. I like the lens though, very light, and simple compared to my 400mm beast!

Should mention that this is in relation to my gig shots a few pages back

Here's one from Autosport '09, still have nearly 100 to edit

    Re: Photo-a-day

Some of the recent snow we have had in Durham, with my college in the background

I Loved the sky with the break in the snow clouds, just a shame i didn't have the foresight to do a panoramic then crop it down. Unfortunately it's only an Olympus C760 UZ (3MP) but it can take some nice shots
