I love those photos Brammers... amazing, what a place!! I think the one with the horse and carriage is my favourite... composition, and the contrast between modern and ...not so modern!
I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.
man, THAT is the prefect desktop for my wide screen monitor. I love pictures like that, because it shows the colours beautifully, that train for example, but is dark... and because I position all my icons on the left of my PC screen
Dont suppose you've got a 1680x1050 version for a poor old Admin, have ya?

Remember with snow to dial in some exposure compensation (if predominantly snowing your camera's metering system will assume it is grey).
If you shot in raw you might be able to compensate in photoshop
The first one was shot with +.7 exposure compensation on camera, however the second photo I further boosted from raw in PS elements. It can be quite hard to check the histogram on camera when its cold and snowy and a rainsleeve
Cheers, I was shooting in raw anyway so had the advantage of being able to correct exposures later
My main problem was that, being on quite an overcast day, it was hard to get a good balance between crispy snow that wasn't blown out and shadows that weren't completely black. I think some hdr might help retain more detail in those areas
^ These look a bit dull in terms of brightness to me
EDIT: Tweaking the colours in PS helped a lot

Taken when I was in the lab playing with bare optical fibre, only a short length so you can see the cladding modes leaking out the sides. It was difficult to get a good shot with the low light and the extremely bright laser light.
one from student night gatecrasher last night...
