Where is that place you will order it with stock? Cause it looks like it's out of stock everywhere.

Nowhere has, or will have extra stock of the E8400 left over after completing backorders for around another month.

If you cancel your order and place one somewhere else, you will end up waiting just as long.

E8400 is is extremely high demand right now. Just about everyone that is upgrading their PC wants one.

I've just noticed that scan have increased the price by £10 to £139.

Damn, its gone up to £205 at overclockers!!!!

E8400 is is extremely high demand right now. Just about everyone that is upgrading their PC wants one.

Actually yoyotech have them in stock right now, with free delivery, and if they are still there when I manage to actually get some sort of response out of scan (most likely customer services, monday morning now) I'll be buying one. Overclockers have them in stock but unreasonably expensive.

Noone is questioning that demand is high, but my problem (like I suspect Incubuz') is that scan's order queueing is completely broken, which is why you are currently sat at your nice E8400 machine and I'm labouring with my A64 3200 even though I ordered (and paid for) my E8400 more than a week before you.

This being the case, it doesn't appear to matter when scan next get a restock because chances are I won't bloody get one yet again, and in fact I cannot even guess when my order might arrive because it should have despatched twice over already (and that's just the two restocks were people receiving a chip have posted their order date here)

Were I a conspiracy theorist I'd imagine that since Scan has been putting the price up they are fulfilling the more recent orders at ~£140 intentionally in preference to the old orders at ~£120, hoping that people like me who ordered at £120 will eventually cancel their order, since scan know they can shift every unit at the higher price. Good job scan, I used to shop exclusively with you but I've had enough now.

I've ordered an aftermarket cooler that needs the board to be removed in order to be fitted, and am using the drives and GPU out of my current PC, so there isn't much I can do beforehand. I'm also hoping to migrate as much of my order away from scan as I can

And I'll also have a shiny shiny 3870 next week too to put into it

sorry, I like to rub it in.

The thing is I was actually expecting to have to wait 2-4 weeks for it when I placed my order. I emailed customer service on the 4th to ask for an extra item to be added to the order and it had already shipped! I seriously thought *WHAT THE HELL* and thought that they had shipped the mobo and CPU cooler alone without the E8400.

Then the next day it all turns up and...

Sorry again, I know I'm being naughty, I cant help it.

    Re: E8400 in stock????

Fair play to you and all, nothing wrong with the folks jumping the queue, but scan need to get their act together. The best I can hope from them is to be told an estimated date for their next re-stock, but I will most likely still not get my order even then because they will have moved on to fulfilling orders from the second week of February (or just the new orders coming in, or by throwing darts at the phone book, or whatever other method they use to mis-allocate stock).

'Most customer focussed retailer of PC technology'? Don't make me laugh, I'd have been treated better by Overclockers even with their price gouging

    Re: E8400 in stock????

If you call them up and tell them you've been waiting since january, I'm sure they will put you on top of the queue and you'll get one from the next batch.

On another forum I was on the same thing happened where someone had ordered in January, and still not recieved one when I had. He complained to scan, and with my invoice number he got his delivery charge refunded. That wouldnt be much help to hexus people though, although if it helps I did have to pay for my delivery as I joined hexus after getting this upgrade.

I wouldnt say that scan are not prioritising old orders first, I would just say that I got extremely lucky and that scan made a mistake sending me one early.

For those of you that have been waiting a long time since january, I will provide my invoice number for when you call scan to complain, so you can say 'so-and-so ordered in Feb and got it before me'. They might be able to give a discount or something.

    Invoice Number: 00E1026401
    Invoice Date: 03/02/2008

Good luck complaining, hopefully Scan will be able to sort something out for you.

This was actually my first big order from Scan. I normally buy from overclockers, but this time their prices were too high. Not just the E8400, but the MSI motherboard I got was £75 on overclockers, £66 on Scan.

    Re: E8400 in stock????

I for one think the price is daft, you could have the Q6600 for that money and go Quad Core, which as said before is more likely to be used in future games and programs.

I know I am heading down the Q6600 route unless an E8400 comes up very cheap at the right time.

I have been reading that uk etailers are only picking up 10-15 E8400's per delivery.

If you look on CCL you will see that they are expecting 100 E8400's on 03/03/2008. But that is still a long wait. Im getting really impatient atm just waiting for my 3870 on tuesday :-P

Now I wonder how bad its going to be when intel release their 1600 mhz fsb CPU's. Ebay will be flooded with used E8400's thats for sure
