Looks very nice, browsing around now
Well it's going to take some getting used to, on my laptop, 1280x800, the bottom part of the page looks out of place, just a big white empty space that takes up the size of the screen.
Also have to set the font size in IE to smaller otherwise the menu's at the top look massive, apart from that, a refreshing change and im sure it will work very well.
Looking good so far, I'm still trying to get used to the large header, I'm so used to the old site it'll take a big of getting used to. Nice to see some changes though
Initial impressions ...... horrible.
Oh, it's all very pretty, and smart, and so on, and may be better on higher res monitors, but on moderate res (like the 1024 x 768 I'm using right now), there's far too much gumph at the top before you get to actual product details. I have to scroll through two whole pages before I get to the start of product details. And each item takes up too much vertical space, reducing what you can see on-screen at any time.
As an example of pretty design, great.
To aid people in actually selecting and buying products, sorry, but in my view, several giant steps backwards.
I suspect I'm going to be in the minority on this, though. But it's an honest opinion, and I've given the reason why I don't like it.
i quite like the new design, gonna miss the old product context menu tho times r changing!
Time to upgrade monitor Saracen...
Looks and works great at 1920x1200. Will try on my laptop 1280x800 and will report back
I like that the product/category name is now in the page title, but how about changing it around:
Product Name: Scan Computers UK
rather than
Scan Computers UK: Product Name
Not a big deal really, but it would make links quicker to read (although the Hexus guys have now removed the auto retrieve title from web links feature!!!)

Saracen
Thank you for the feedback - I have viewed the site at your resolution and can understand your point, however I am unsure how much a problem this would be for the majority of user's as most people I think would be viewing the site at a resolution of at least 1280x1024.
I think saying the site is "several giant steps backwards" a little extreme taking into consideration the number of users, that would be viewing the site at this low resolution - There are many New features that benefit all users, so focussing on this 1 point doesn't really look at the bigger picture .
After all it is a new site is exactly that "new" and aimed towards higher resolutions, On the other hand we will take your comments on board and your feedback will be prioritised.
P.S - Why not invest in a new Monitor
Best Regards

sjbuck - should be sorted shortly
OMG this is a LOT better then your old layout. imo scan had the worst layout out of many sites such has ebuyer, dabs etc but i would take a brillient customer support + free delivery over the layout of your website
now all you gotta do is stock some lian li cases and DSLR lens and you will have become the perfect web retailer
Just noticed you guys changed the website now. First impressions were ok but it just felt a bit hardder to just get to the specific thing you want, you need to load the page in order to get the list which can be annoying, its easy to get used to though. I do have one problem with the site, the order history used to let you know what you ordered but now all it shows is the invoice number and date, any chance the old part of that would be implemented?. Also, the date dispatched is wrong, the citylink number is under there instead of in its own field and the date has disapeared.
Makes it alot more easy to get an update on your order with the parcel tracking at home, great that you added the telephone number for city link while you check which can be very helpful for the people in the areas that citylink fail.
Overall, its a ok layout but it would just take me getting used to then it would be better than before imo, few bugs/issue but no doubt that will be fixed asap.
@Saracen just tried it at your res and i agree that its cluttered etc and i think they could change it so that it can fit those resolutions better, other than that i think its something that needs to be adjusted to.
its ok, nothing special, its quite slow and sapps a lot of system resources, looks pretty much the same as the last site but takes longer and you have to mess about with more options.
Bit like vista compared to XP, looks prettier but its slow and long-winded
.....in my OPINION
One slight issue, where you list the two different prices (presumably ex VAT and inc VAT), it doesn't explicitly state that, might wanna fix that one as AFAIK it's a requirement from Trading Standards
As for general feedback, I like the way the new navigation system works very much and it's a huge improvement in being able to find what you want.
However, the overall layout is cluttered. You may well dismiss people on 1024x768 and tell them to upgrade, but on 1680x1050 it's still not a lot better if you're actually using the monitor to it's potential and have a browser window next to another document, and thus typically still only have 800 pixels or so width.
Personally, I'd have the sub-level filtering go into the top level box, maybe taking advantage of the dead space underneath "All", to have another tab. Or if you want to get really clever, let a customer keep the 6, 8, 10 etc (however many fit nicely) most recent product catagories there for quick browsing.
