    1. What resolutions are supported?

    2. How about customs resolutions with powerstrip for example? Anyone tried? (with the built in X3000)

    3. Are the PCI and PCI Express slots tightly squeezed in? Would a decent gfx-card work along with a PCI-TV-Tuner?

    Hi,

I have Asus EAX X1950Pro card and it hardly fits inside. To be honest I would not advice this one since it is about 1 cm too long. I was able to put it inside but memory card reader is little bit deflected.

I cannot answer 1 and 2 since I have never used integrated graphics card.

Ive upgraded the BIOS. Nothing seems to have changed really but im guessing compatibility has been improved.

Thank you for the info about the X1950Pro card Marcin. Gives a bit of percpective as to wether a 8800 fits in there!

    This little thing looks good

    Hi!

Definitely considering this one for Music Production. Will be using a lot of effects and need the system to be up for it. I was disappointed to learn that it´s impossible to "stripe" 2 hdd:s for optimum performance; RAID 0, as there is no RAID support for the HDD slots. But I´m kinda confused cause in most descriptions RAID 0 support is listed. Any one set me straight on this one? Any way around it?

There's no RAID unfortunately, nothing you can do about it

That sucks. So you gonna keep your setup and wait for the miracle bios or what? Anything new? What about the noice levels, still ok?

PS. The RAM slots are maximum 800mhz right?

Yeah i have 2x500gb's in there, they are fine as they are. You can always get a PCI raid controller if you want to! The noise levels are fine, its whisper quiet! Unlike that damn Samsung 500gb Ram are 800MHz correct. This is not an overclocker friendly setup.

PCI Simple Communications Controller issue: SOLVED for me at least. Download and install the Intel Management Engine Interface. Check this link on Intels site: http://www.intel.com/support/motherb.../CS-023443.htm

Reply if you get it working!

    Hi all,

Great thread, it's been really helpful in deciding whether or not to buy the T3.
I'm gonna run it with Vista Ultimate as a kind of HDTV setup with this card:

Sapphire RADEON X1650 PRO ATI 256 MB (HDCP capable via the DVI-out)

    and this monitor:

Samsung SyncMaster 205BW 20" (HDCP capable)

I'm also gonna install the Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T 500 card which is a dual DVB-T tuner card running alongside the excellent GBPVR software

Unfortunately I can't post any links but all these items are available on eBuyer. Other specs will be E6400, 1 GB Ram, 2x320 GB HDDs.
It's more or less gonna be ready for Freeview HD, I'll just need a new card, and when the time comes I'm gonna upgrade to a Blu-ray or HDDVD drive, depending on which format triumphs!

Just wondering if anyone's used either of these cards or knows where I can find specs to tell me whether or not they'd fit in the case OK or whether they'll be OK with the 300w PSU. Any other recommendations would also be much appreciated!

I've also got a PDF copy of the manual if anyone wants it! (found it on ftp.asus.com) It's dated Jan 2007, First Edition.

Question Just bought one of these....

Just bought one of these with:
    • Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
    • 74 Gb Western Digital WD740ADFD Raptor
    • 256MB XFX 8600GT XXX,
    • 1 Gb Cosair RAM
    • IDE DVDRW

    1. So can anyone see any problems with the list above?
    2. What should I do when I first install? update bios etc straight away?
    3. Will the gfx card fit?
    4. Will I need another PSU?
    5. Do I have to swap the IDE DVD drive for a SATA?

I've read the entire thread but it started ages ago and things seemed to have moved on, any help/comments welcome. I'll post pics once the stuff arrives.

    Hi guys, I'm seriously considering building a system on the Asus T3-p5g965 and I would love to have the below spec;

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 2.13GHz 4MB
    2GB KINGSTON KHX6400D2K2/2G
NEC AD5170A-0B 18X+/-R DL DVD Writer
    80Gb Hitachi 7K80 7200rpm 8mb Cache
    320Gb W. Digital Caviar SE 7200Rpm 16Mb Cache

Now there are three main questions I kinda need answering/input on because I've read this whole thread and still a bit miffed about it.

    1. Is there 3 internal SATA connections or not?
I was thinking if there was then I would have two SATA HDD as above and also get a 3rd SATA Optical Drive and skip the whole IDE/ATAPI route.

    2. Which Radeon card to go for?
    The three I've seen kicked about on the tread are;

MSI ATI RX1650XT-T2d256EZ 256MB (Large Passive Heatsink Fan)
Sapphire RADEON X1650 PRO ATI 256 MB
    Asus EAX X1950Pro 256MB

I have seen a (cheeky) generic reference ATI Radeon x1950 PRO 512MB card that I was thinking of getting a hold of (but that might be overkill?!). My main concern is dimensions, I've download the manual which says the graphics card can't be more the a 192mm in legth and 19mm wide (depth) and I know that some of the above cards were a bit of a squeeze to get into the case reading from the thread.

    3. Lastly and most importantly can anyone catagorically state that they've changed the PSU on their T3-p5g965 coz 250W just ain't gonna fly! Especially with the spec I wanna pump into it. If someone has definately changed the PSU I would like to hear about it as I've noticed that some of the original PSU connections are arced at right angles. Are there any specific power connections that are on tthe original PSU that aren't on the standard PSU's if there are any differences. Would like to know what PSU someones changed to as I was looking at the Enermax liberty 400W PSU.

Love to hear your thoughts on this very interesting case design!!

    Thanks Jim your a legend! The pics have given me a better picture of what it looks like plus I didn't realise the size was so small! Thanks for letting me know you are using a 400W PSU, definately going for the Enermax liberty 400W PSU as its a modular design so I can keep cables to a minimum and the main cables are sleeved. I did contact Asus and this 'Penny' person replied the one right at the beginning of this thread when Acidmax contacted them, she said;

    "Dear sir/madam,

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.
My name is Penny. It's my pleasure to help you with your problem.

I'm sorry that because T3-P5G965 is a mini system, the chassis is small, and its power supply is special size, there isn't another power supply which is more powerful to suit for T3-P5G965. And if you use a powerful power supply, the system will emit too much heat, then the system will be hot and not stable to run.

If you have any problem, please refer FAQ(Frequently Asked Questions) or contact us again. We will try our best to help you.

    Sincerely,

    Penny
    ASUS Customer Service Center(China)"

Well you're not having any heat problems are you?!
BTW what Graphics card have you got rigged up?
    Cheers Mate

malakai5 I'm going for the Enermax Liberty too, maybe the 500w version. I problem which might happen is there is little space between the SATA cables at the HD enbd and the PSU. The modular plugs may get in the way. Or I think this could be prevented by some type of modding or placing the cables in a different way.

What model of PSU have other people used?

Has anyone managed to fit a 3rd SATA HD in somewhere?

Hi desdes, I think I'll join you in getting the 500w version of the Enermax Liberty PSU. Regarding the cabling I don't think its gonna be too much of an issue, if you look at Jine's images there's enough space for the power cables even though the HDD and PSU spaces/enclosures are butted up together almost. The SATA cable itself can probably be cable tied to the main sleeved cables if your worried about that keeping in mind I'm going with what I see from Jine's images.

Yeah this third SATA thing is kinda interesting as I can clearly see 3 internal SATA connections from the images but I haven't heard anybody using all 3 in using 3 SATA HDD's. Although I'd be more interested in a 2x SATA HDD and 1x SATA Opitcal Drive combi - Has anybody got this SATA combination?

Still want to have this generic ATI Radeon x1950 PRO 512MB card but it's the length I'm worried about. One person's done it already - Trofim with an Asus EAX X1950Pro and says its 1cm too long. Well I've just read somewhere that this particular card the Asus EAX X1950Pro is 23.5cm long. So I'm hoping that the 512MB I want is gonna be just under that seeing as it's a reference built card which should be 22cm, plus I'm impressed Trofim even though the gfx card is deflecting the memory reader PCB coz the manual I DL said it'll only support a card upto 19.2cm that's just over 4cm difference

The "heat issue" is bull****, better PSU = better fan = better cooling
Sure, if you using a more powerfull psu the heat will increase, but not so much as they say.

Im using a unmodded geforce X800
