I can't stand city link and would be happy to pay a few quid extra for another option.

I lived in a block of flats with a Conciege and CCTV everywhere as well as full audio visual door entry system. Concige calls up and I tell her it's ok to let him in and go to my door and wait. 2 minutes later she calls back, he won't come up to the flat because he was scare of enclosed spaces (the lift) and heights (I was on the top floor).

A few weeks later another delivery, different driver and this time I wasn't in. I come back to find the conciege waiting for me, apparently after she told him I was out and offered to let him go in to card the flat he told her where to shove the card and threw it at her office then walked off. I called up and bithced to be told he wasn't allowed in. When I offered to send them a copy of the tape I was told they would have the package to me later that evening. Never saw the delivery driver again and I used to have a few packages a week.

I could go on suffice to say out of the hundreds of items work sends out each month none of them go CL, TNT are only slightly more expenive and significantly better.

Don't see all the problems, just ordered £1500 worth of stuff and it got here dead on time. I had to take the morning off this week and It got here mid morning, what more can I ask for?

I've already stopped ordering from Scan because of City Link (no criticism of Scan they've always been helpful and i've always been happy with the products).I've just had another run-in with City Link with another supplier (i didn't realise they used them) same problem i had with Scan, was carded on the first delivery, rang up to arrange collection, did a detour on my way to work only to find that it had gone out for redelivery (didn't even card the second time). The excuse i was given was that the sender had overridden my instruction to collect and had paid to have it redelivered (Deja Vu from my last Scan delivery) which the supplier denied.
I rang up to get a better explanation this evening to be told that i had rang too early and that all deliveries second deliveries were automatically flagged for a second delivery at a certain time whether the recipients had requested to collect or not.
So another online retailer gets knocked off my list until they get an alternative courier.
Sorry for the rant, but i had to get it off my chest.

I think city-link are good and bad purely on the driver you get. I've had the odd bad one, but currently he's very good. Always arrives at around the same time and as someone is generally always in, I've not been fake carded.

I've had bad experiences with lots of different couriers, but most of my deliveries come via city link with no problems

I have had mixed experiences with them, at first a couple of years ago they where terrible but lately they are pretty decent. They used to deliver things really late like past the delivery times O_o
Also when I went to pick up an item from their depot I wasn't impressed when the guy said he couldn't get my package out of the cage because they didn't have the keys

but they are ok for now atleast for me

Although my cousin works with a mobile phone company who uses them and is always saying how they get complaints they haven't recieved their mobiles because city link employees are robbing them...

they must be cheap or yoyo and scan wouldnt use them, they just are not sensible in what they do, i had a delivery from a company, via them and they dropped it into the pub next door without telling me.
Now i dont know the pub owner and he doesnt know me, by chance i went in and asked, he said yeh here you go, but if i hadnt he would have got 300 pounbdsa worth of stuff because a city link driver cba to leave me a card or redeliver. nobs

How's this for Irony, the day after posting about how dire city link are one of the suppliers we use at work dispatches something direct to our client on a Pre 10:30 delivery. I know it got sent because I checked it with CL web site later that evening. by 11:40 it hasn't arrived after speaking to a customer service drone and then a managment drone and finally a regional drone they took the point on board that I wasnt going to go away and let this little gem out. 'Oh the sender should have realised the delivery is for a roural area, we couldn't possibly have got it to the destination by 10:30' When asked what did he thisn the chances of someone in Surrey knowing the geographic specifics of Northumberland in relation to a City Link depot all he could suggest was that they may have sent things before! Shortly afterwards a white an with an elderly woman in drops off the package ?!

Well...My recent Scan order was bang on time.
I nearly fell over when i saw City Link coming up the path at 9am.
Good delivery vs Bad delivery is still in favour of bad at the moment though :/

Lol, after my posting about them being fine in my area I seemed to get a different driver on my last order and he decided to first knock, wait briefly, then kick my door. I made it clear to him I was far from impressed. Still arrived at 9.10 as usual so it wasnt all bad

city link (i refrain from using another word that rhymes with 'city' that describes how i feel about them) are basically poor delivering to my area.

with all the online companies i've ordered stuff from that use citylink i have only probably had them deliver items on time, once! i was in shock and sure the world was going to end that day!

i despise the way they lie and say they've tried to deliver but noone is home when you know plain well that they didnt bother.

years ago i ordered a gfx card from scan, it didnt arrive on the day it was meant to, a whole afternoon of arguing with various citylink employees, they biked it out to me and it was like 8pm at the time. never had such luck since.

im not entirely fond of the one hour round trip to the beckenham depot either, once i had to drive out there after work, it was pouring down with rain, i was fuming and ended up being flashed by a roadside camera.

these days i still use a company that uses citylink, but almost always select the "next day" option, if i dont have it on that day because citylink mess up, i demand a refund off them.

so its either refunded delivery or a delivery i get when im supposed to, i can live with that.

or i choose to snub companies using citylink. another online retailer i use uses buspost and they even text you the day before its due for delivery, now thats service.

I see City Link get slated so much but my local City Link dude is awesome, I've never had a messed up or late delivery and he will try to redeliver the same day if no-one is in. I've even got the guys mobile number if I need an order urgently...now that's what I call good service!
