I think I should be able to get away with it. After all, my server needs to be on 24/7 for the movie streaming (and any downloading I may schedule) and access to all the other files that we use on it. Just don't let the wife know how much leccy it uses, and I'll keep on paying the bills...
It is genuinely used to warm my room, which saves me some heating, but that's hardly a legitimate claim I can defend as the heating's on almost permanently to warm the rest of the house anyway.
These old Victorian hoses get bloody cold in the winter. Must get double glazing sorted sometime soon...

As far as efficiency goes, I still reckon an Athlon II X4 605e is your best bet. I'm very tempted to get one for my HTPC and leave that on 24/7.
Incidentally, I seem to have picked up an odd work unit this morning: 500,008 steps! Anyone seen one of those before?
Yea a few of my 500k units have been 500,008 or 500,013 etc... don't know why, but they seem to be exactly the same as normal 500k'ers so I ignored them.You don't? You need a different job

I have recommenced CPU folding now that I've probably lowered power draw by 60W but only lowered ppd by about 10%
My 980x is really starting to hit it's stride now.... I've only got it running @ 3.5Ghz as it's still in the old case and not been put in the case with the upgraded cooling yet (currently only got 2.120 rad to cool the CPU AND GTX 295 folding 24/7, and the CPU only reaches 70 C) so it's not doing too bad!

Well, my average ppd should drop below 100k ppd by the end of play today.
you've plummeted from a strong top 100 producer in the WORLD (If memory serves your 24hr average was 83rd overall!) down to a far less dizzy 203rd. Shame, but it does open up the race to catch Lowe somewhat. Just thoguht I'd give you a headstart

Lol, I was up to 63rd but don't worry. there is still time for you to catch me before mid Feb!
From reports of overclocking power draw, 1.45vcore uses about 230-250W and 1.4vcore uses about 180W. I'm at 1.39vcore so I think I'll be nearer the lower end of the scale. None of this has been backed up with power draw figures but from what I can work out it's roughly correct.
i get 7.1kppd vs 8.1 now.
