A bit of healthy competition never hurt anyone eh? Checked on my machine this morning, and it seems to be on a "go slow". One of the GTX 480's production rate had to drop from 19k to 8k and the i7 970 is only estimated at 12.5k ppd - net result - it's still only showing as 75k. Doh! Guess the work unit's I'm running or something are slow ones or something.
I've just quickly increased the Base Clock from 133 to 160, and the net processor speed has risen to 3.8Ghz. Will leave that trundling away today to see what my max temp is. Currently I'm only hitting 74C, and that's at 1.33v applied automatically by the bios. The revision to the cooling that I've worked so hard on over the past 40 days seems to have had an effect. I was hitting about 80C using my Swiftech XT. I've had to revert to my Swiftech GTZ for the moment as the XT was bunged up with some sort of soft mucussy film, and in my haste to dismantle it I broke one of the internal o-rings, and I wanted to gte this rig back up and folding ASAP.
Looks like I'm going to have to write a nice letter to Swiftnets....

Competition is always good!
We ranked up another position today. 130 now...
Only another 1.5 months until I catch Lowe. Almost there!

Mine's still showing 7 months....
Can't wait till I get my RIIE back from Scan. Be the best £25 repair bill I'll ever pay (damaged pin sockets). That'll give me another 30k PPD plus a test-bed to try and fix my "spare" GTX 295 on.
I'm going to start work on my water cooled shuttle rebuild mod and do my first project log, probably starting later this week. A Q6600 and GTX 8800 all water-cooled in a small form factory case. Just hope I can get it all to fit and keep it cool. That should free up my laptop from my projector and give me another dedicated folding rig. Probably only worth about 7k ppd though so not going to make a huge impact.
Wonder if you can fold on an Amiga 1200 with 68030? If not, I may have to sell it off to fund my leccy bill.....

My PPD (Blast, my servers submitting, which is about 30k ppd, so it's showing as ZERO expected)
My newly re-built machine...
a close(r) zoom in of the mobo...
No sign of any leaks yet, and unbeknown to me it's been folding away quite happily at 4Ghz without any time in the bios. Just increased the BCLK from 133 to 160 and hey presto. wonder how high it'll go....

Wow, thats a nice rig!

Those temps seem awfully high, I know it isn't directly comparable, but my Q6600 running at 3.8ghz (474x8) with 1.375v only tops 67C, not that I run it at that though the cpu can handle it well, but I am afraid my VRM's would die as my rear rad and fan mounting blocks most of the airflow in that area, so even at my normal speeds I have a small fan trying its best to blow on them.
My usual OC these days is 3.3ghz (472x7) at 1.28v and that tops out at 55C.
What is your water loop made up of?
Mine is a Little river storm G4 block, 1x120mm crossflow rad rear mounted, 1x240mm top mounted rad, a XSPC bay res and a bosch waterpump that is designed to cool electric motors (no idea of the model) all on 1/2" ID tubing.

Temps are taken while running folding BIGADV continuously with fans on low (high makes minimal difference). Overclock is 4.0Ghz not 3.8 Ghz as stated, and this is using the Bios' voltage selections and has not been tuned yet as this was just a quick test which surprised me as being stable!
It's not worse that my 980X rig was. I don't think that I have an issue, but I am surprise at your temps. Is that taken under folding @ 100% load? The i7's with the 12 threads are rated at nearly 150 Watts at the settings I'm running.... What's a Q6600 rated at, I forget?

We hit 500k+ points yesterday.... Its been a while since that happened. Another couple of days and we'll past another 2 teams....
Tattysnuc (08-02-2011)
We sat still for a little while, but are definitely climbing again. I had 1 BIGADV unit submitted yesterday, and I'll have another one hit tomorrow , and again the day after so we'll start seeing the benefit of my additional rig. The good lady is out overnight, so once I've taken Ruffus the guardian of "the farm" out for his evening walk I'll just settle down and assemble my Zotac board and GTX 285 to pump a few more points out for a couple of days. Don't think I'll have time to get it all watercooled as I intend the rig to go into an old shuttle case, and I want to photo the mods as a work log, and if I get distracted folding, that just wont happen.

What is happening to your little folding empire at the moment? Is it up or what? You're pumping out points quicker than BP could pump out Crude into the atlantic!
Hey - just spotted. Nearly 500 posts! Does that mean I finally get to post a picture up. Wonder what I should choose.....

a Q6600 at 3 GHZ will do about 4-5k ppd if you use all threads I reckon? This is more like it guys, great work from everyone atm, we're firing on all cylinders
I managed to hijack a couple of servers for some runs this week. Got to hand them back on Monday and two of the smaller ones went yesterday but I need to keep ahead of someone, until I at least get to 20 million... lol
500 posts? I have a way to go yet....
