Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
We are putting together an order for 5 x Dell R910 Servers - £34000 each.
4 x Intel Xeon E7-4870 Processors (10 cores, plus Hyper threading, 2.4Ghz )192Gb of Ram each.
A nice 80 thread system which should go thread a bigadv unit in around 11 hours.
5 of them would give a ppd of around 1 million (guessing that each wu is worth 100k with the decreased time)
Just a shame that none of them will have windows on them and wont be able to fold.

They were turned off on monday. I think i may have left a smaller server running somewhere but yeah, my ppd should hit 0 sometime soon.
That's one hell of a targit you've set for me. Guess the gauntlet has been set down. Poetically I need about the same as the former number 1 folder had in order to catch you! Think you're safe for a while there....

Never thought I'd be sorry to see the day when I saw this....

Only 13 years to go based on current rates.... I hope you'll be back. Maybe you can get Lowe to fire up again too and we'll see a proper race

An update on the teams performance.
We've dropped to 119th now, and look to continue dropping down the rankings over the next few weeks. We'll overtake NCSU soon, but that'll be undone when Darkswarm catch us in 2 days. The next overtake we have is then 2.1 months away, which in the meanwhile we'll be overtaken by 3 other teams.
Don't think we'll be breaking the top 100 this year. Looks like we're missing 1stRavens work-work units already....

I will still be here to turn off the lights

Something strangely reassuring about that. As my PPD suggests, my servers back up and running at full pelt now. Gott he i7 970 ticking over nicely at 4.2 on all 12 threads, and the GTX 295 is sitting there waiting to be configured. Restoring the 2TB to the Raid 5 array (5x1TB) drives has taken an age. I started by copying the files over my gigabit network but the transfer rate PEAKED at 5mb per sec which put the time to complete in weeks. Ended up putting the SATA drive onto the e-sata (is that Yorkshire speak?) port and copying over. It's still running 12 hours later, but it's nearly done now. Guess these are the limitations of using Intels chipset and not a HIGHPOINT setup. When I rebuild next I'll move to a faster card that can be expanded with the array in situe.
I'll be leaving the 2 machines folding for this week, but switching down to just the one soon, the server will be the one that folds. Going to get ahead of Lowe before I revert to just the one machine.
Other than that only plan to switch the server over to those 6903 and 6904 work units which only run on Linux at the moment. They're worth about 100k ppd so I should be able to continue at my current pace and more, but I'm waiting for all the Windows updates to download and install, along with the work I've got to do to set up the GTX 295, before I do anything else.
Anyone got any ideas how we can continue climbing the team rankings?
It's been great climbing with Hexus! I'm not so hot on the idea that we'll be dropping down mostly from now especially with the amount of work that we're getting through verses last year! We're quite a bit up on where we were...
