    Re: Minecraft?

Sorry mate, I ran the server (the second time round) for almost a month and it was barely used. I know I let you all down the first time by not rebuilding it quick enough when I lost it, but if no-one was going to use it, there was no point me spending time to upgrade it, manage the addons etc. So I have therefore repurposed the server to help me study, and you are the first person who appears to have picked up on that since it went offline over a month ago.

Maybe ask the guys at Scan if they want to run one like they do for BF3? It's popular enough IMO and I would be happy to help out where I can, but I couldn't admin another server full time, I just have too much work and studying to do that what little time I have left I like to play what I feel like.

Getting back onto Minecraft though, does anyone here play the Technic Pack?

    Re: Minecraft?

I used it at least two/three times a week along with Pob and a few others.

I didn't want to bug you with constant PMs about it being offline though

I might be interested in setting up a server. It might help me learn how to play the game if I got involved with other people who are already playing. How would I go about doing this though? What would I need?

    Re: Minecraft?

I set up a server last night for me and a couple of friends to play on, it's only a vanilla server with no mods, and only hosted on my home broadband connection so may lag with too many on (was fine with just 3 online!). That said I'm happy to let others on, just PM me for details. As Allen said when he was running a server:

With that in mind, I will only give the details to members with reasonable Hexus standings (not rating, just more than a few posts and I will check member length too).

I've started playing this a lot recently. Playing on the Rock Paper Shotgun Server. You guys would be welcome to join in, there's a lot of awesome buildings about to see and they just extended the map area so plenty of space to get your build / mine on and also its a dedicated server so no waiting for people to set their own server up.

Have a quick read of the Faq and rules first and then get an admin to white list so that you can build, either by posting in that thread or jump on the server and ask for an admin.

    http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/foru...ver-Thread-III

Check out the live map too to see what's on the server.

    http://urps-minecraft.co.uk/map/

server only runs 1.3.1 at the moment so if you are upgraded just google a downgrader and take one step down, the server should updating once all the plugins are supported.

    Re: Minecraft?

Trying the Xbox version is so painful after playing PC for so long. The game goes quite stale until the updates come out again, since I have had it since alpha.

    Re: Minecraft?

I really want to get a legit copy but it's kinda pricey and I'm not sure how many mates will play with me, might get bored of it really quickly

    Re: Minecraft?

Yes. Maybe not compared to other games but 20 pound is still plenty pricey for what the game offers.

    Trololol!

£20 is not pricey for what it offers, at all! I have spent literally hundreds of hours dwelling in the catacombs of hell and magnificent castle/tower like structures I have made from ground up, hunting, being hunted, exploring the depths of the oceans and the heights of the mountains, jungles, deserts, dungeons... And there's always new stuff being added, the game is regularly updated and seems relatively bug free lately (although to be fair I haven't played it too much these past couple of weeks).

Then add on the amazing amounts of mods, skins, pre-built worlds, games, adventures etc, the likes of the Technic pack, Bukkit for servers, hosting your own server, joining PvP servers, joining creative servers..... the list goes on and on!

I think it's quite possibly the best game I have purchased considering the amount of playtime I have gotten out of it, and this is comparing it to aged classics like Frontier: Elite 2 and FF VII!
