Who's waiting for Nvidia Fermi

Nvidia doesnt really offer the multi display experience in the same way as ATI as you need to have dual card setups (SLI) for it to work with more than 2 displays. You can run up to 6 off each ATI card i believe.

Admitadly if you pushing that number of pixels your going to want dual cards (if you using a 200 series model) but i would expect a fermi to be able to run at least 3 at decent enough frame rate... but its capped at 2 FAIL!

Is it "FAIL" that ATi's multi display solution doesn't support 3d, doesn't have bezel correction in drivers, requires displayport, and doesn't support multi GPU?

Or is that a "big win" because whatever ATi does is the "right" way to do it, no matter how limited?

Also I looked recently and could only see 1680x1050 monitors with 3D support when 1920x1080 would be a minimum, so I don't see my wife's next monitor being 3D (and she plays WoW which supports it 3D it could have been a factor).

I've played with 3d Vision on 24" and 27" monitors that are full 1080P, you'll get your wish son enough.

16X10 is better than you would think it would be on the 22" panels because the double rendering and blending lend a "pseudo AA" effect that make it appear better than standard 16X10. Personally I'm planning on adding 2 more 16X10 panels within a few months of this launching. 3d Surround is the best thing I've ever seen in gaming, and I use a lot of high end stuff.

Dont really know, there is no official comparison between the results of having it and not having but i suspect visually it will be pretty insignificant.

No... display port is clearly the more sensible solution to the problem, just a shame its more expensive at the moment.

I dont think anything ATI do is right and everything Nvidia do is wrong... i own a GTX260 or gods sake! i just think at this moment in time Nvidia have missed the boat in quite a few ways.

Obviously you at not loyal enough to Nvidia.

1.)You should be having at least a pair of cards in SLI! FAIL
2.)You don't even have a GTX280 or GTX285 let alone a GTX295! FAIL
3.)Whereas is you 3D monitor and specs?? FAIL
4.)Your notebook only uses an 8600GT - it should have at least a GTX260M! FAIL
5.)Why haven't you got a notebook with a 3D screen yet!!?? FAIL
6.)Your server only has a 6200TC. What?? You should have at least a G210!! FAIL
7.)Your phone does not use Tegra or Tegra 2!! FAIL

Eyefinity only allows for a single card to power the graphics, Therefore if you want 6 monitors your best bet is the 5970 and a 5750 to carry out the other signals - only because it has DP and supports eyefinity, it does nothing in terms of graphics processing.

After all the HD5970 is basically two downclocked HD5870 GPUs.

Anyway they have at least a month or two to get it sorted out!!

The thing is that 6 display capable HD5970 are coming out so you would only need one card in this case.

They seem to still have 2GB of video RAM too. Still 6 DP monitors are not so cheap though.

As Terbinator said they are using a standard output controller (which probably reduces the cost of the pcb) also if you wanted to use 3x 3d monitors that's going to be a far larger hit on proformance.

If ATi is looking at a form of 3d to inpliment then that does show they thing it's an important enough feature to persue.
Same as the way nvidia absiously think eyefinity is important enough feature to persue.

And Rollo, while ati don't currently have bezel correction in drivers they are working on adding it in, we can probably expect to see it in the next set, and it will be an enable/disable feature, handy as monitor makers are working on bezeless screens.

As much as people here don't seem to like Rollo much, he sure starts intresting threads.
