This is an excellent bit of info on how the NB strap works on a 965 chipset, and that should give you an idea of how things work. The P35 chipsets appears not to have any detrimental strap changes (see 400FSB in that article), but there does appear to be a slight drop at 500FSB, but wether it is a strap change or not, I'm not sure.

Yep that's the findings from Asus P5K Deluxe Mainboard: Second Encounter (page 5)
    FSB Strap
As clunk say's taken together you get the picture. It may be that the better memory controller , perhaps with a bit more experience by the engineers has now made it fairly seemless.

Yes of course. I am making a image backup of my current windows at the moment, and then try it immediatly.

    Edit: So far no luck.

    1. Created & Imported Registry file according to first post (not RAID)
    2. Extracted iaStor.sys from Intel_IMSM_V7501017.rar (Asus Website)
    3. Copied iaStor.sys to \windows\system32\drivers
    4. Rebooted
    5. Switched to AHCI mode in BIOS
    6. Windows starts loading a bit, then resets immediatly.
    7. Tried to set to RAID, the BIOS finds all drives, but Windows doesnt even start loading. Message like 'Inaccessible boot device'
    8. Booting in safemode didnt work either, resets itself too.
    9. Switched back to IDE/Enhanced mode. Worked instantly again. So there is no damage done just by adding that registry file.

I will try the second part of registry entries now. And take a look at the original german thread.

That wouldf be great. The german source i think is probably more reliable than the 2nd hand posts in the msi article. Sadly my german doesn't extend much further than ordering a beer & asking where the railwaystation is

    thanks

"Good news everyone".... (oh i loved Futurama)...

Forget about those postings. They will never work because the registry entries rely on ICH8/R, not on our precious ICH9/R. But... i found updated registry entries. Will try it out now, and if it works, make a good translated miniguide here

Supershanks forget the railwaystation, ordering a beer is all you need to know in german

    Edit:

Give me five minutes to translate it.

Which one are you getting? Vanilla or Deluxe? Or one of the other 10 versions?
If Deluxe, the 0501 Bios seems to be stable, but it is beta. 0404 before was good, i would start with that one.
