This weekend I have been mostly watching...
Olympus Has Fallen - A gripping story about Koreans taking over the White House and making various demands of the US Government. It's down to Gerrard Butler (who for the first time I actually could tolerate) to take down the remaining terrorists and free the president (and his boy). 8/10
Oblivion - Tom Cruise is Tom Cruise in a film about Tom Cruise. No, actually it's a pretty good film. There's some excellent effects in there, the story has a great plot twist, and despite there being TWO Tom Cruise on screen at one point in the film, it's still very watchable and I enjoyed it. 7.5/10
Blade Runner - After it being mentioned at a BBQ on Thursday night, I thought it only appropriate that I go back and watch Blade Runner with a sober mind and the ability to concentrate. Two things I very much lacked when I watched Blade Runner originally. A BluRay rendition later and I was reminded that this is easily one of the best sci-fi films of all time and the effects still hold up well today. Though I did notice the Coca-Cola advertising being a lot more blatant than I remember. 9.5/10
The Purge - So I thought it was an interesting concept after initially seeing TV Adverts so I gave it a go. I was disappointed only 20 minutes in after there was the most vague and brief of scene setting, there was little explanation as to why the purge was required and it seemed to do no more than set the scene for a mediocre thriller with only one main set (a suburban house). I switched it off about an hour in and I'd give it 2/10
