cool did you get the battery back up for the openreach optical modem thingy? came in handy for a couple off power cuts we have had so the landline phone rings.

thats odd because its law bt have to fit a back up device (battery) for the optical modem because you connect the phone to it. if there is a power cut you can still use a analogue phone ?

its a white battery back up that is connected to the mains(for charging) and to the modem.

im on infinity option 2 and the optic cable fed in to the home.
so what did they install for you?

I am on Infinity 2 (the 76MB one) and they installed the white box and then connected it to the homehub 4

Generally, installations with existing copper cabling will keep said line for their phone.

@neonplanet40: are you on FTTP or FTTC?

In which case the line is powered and battery backed-up anyway, you only need battery back-up if your phone connects to an FTTP ONT (modem), as the network-provided power obviously cannot pass over fibre.
