My friend is with EE and has to use a VPN because they block all sorts of online games and throttle him all the time. But that may just be him.

    My result:

Virgin Media 100mbps, getting a free upgrade to 120mbps/10mbps this September onwards.

It could be different for that package, but don't expect 10:1 ratio straight away, you'll probably get 120 and 6 up for a while (20:1). The upload doubling seems to be lagging a fair way behind download in most places.

Yeah, I read that on Virgin's announcements. The exchanges around here are superb though, I always get blistering speeds .

I nearly always get spot on headline speed, but I'm still on 20:1 - they're not related. For the upload upgrade, they generally have to roll out upstream channel bonding and add extra upstream line cards at the CMTS otherwise contention would increase massively - if you're running close to capacity anyway, you can't just double everyone's allowed speed with no upgrades.

I wish they would roll out upgrades for an upload speed increase. Anyway here's mine.

strange that .. i find them really good play loads of games even planetside 2 works better with them .. unlimited package with phone £30 a month .. and no management like virgin or routing issues ...
no point in getting 100mb dl if ya can't use it ..

10Mb/s Down 5Mb/s Up over Microwave line-of-sight link using Boundless rural broadband as I needed decent upload and no timescale as yet for FTTC.

Kept my old ADSL (15M) as backup/failover.
