    Re: BeThere.co.uk - Wow

My PC is connected to the Be Box via ethernet, never had a single problem with it in this first month with Be. And the laptop connects over wireless, again, all fine.

They recycle their routers from old customer to new customer, don't they? I applaud their environmental action in this but I guess it brings more likelihood of problems. Get it swapped?

    Well,

Order placed with Be - activation scheduled for next week (17th) - Virgin offered me 20MB connection for £15 for 3 months to stay with them, advised that I wasnt intrested so it gets cancelled on the 10th next month.

    Re: BeThere.co.uk - Wow

i have BE internet, and so far I have had alot of problems. my connection will randomly cut off or more recently it will say i`m connected but I can't actually view any webpages. Turning off the Bebox and then turning it back on seems to solve this problem but it is very annoying. I have used wireless connections for years without constant problems like this so it becomes difficult to recommend BE at this moment in time.

What I will say is the technical support department is very good. They have always tried their best to help and if you ask me have a good attitude towards us paying customers unlike Pipex whose customer services stink.

I have had BE for about a month now by the way.

Are you using P2P software such as Azureus or similar ?

If so then this appears to be down to too many concurrent connections overloading the Bebox. Try limiting the amount of connections your client can make and I bet it stops falling over.

i`ve had this problem from day one Lee, i never used any p2p connections after initially switching to BE, i have only really started using p2p again last few days. but now that i am doing so again, i will do as you say, thanks.

Is the router plugged into the main BT socket or are you running some extensions around the house for various other phones and sockets?

Some people I know have had issues with bad internal cabling causing their connections to be flakey as ADSL2+ seems to be a bit more suseptable to issues with cabling and sub quality line filters.

hmm, wow, BE are actually quite cheap now.

not sure if i should get pro or unlimited, i was thinking of running a home server with pro in a few months (read, about 6 knowing me), but i am not sure if it would be better to just upgrade then and get a slightly better download speed now until i decide i need a static IP.

    hmm...... decisions..... decisions........

That could well explain why Im having the same problems. As a student living with 3 other people, we are all constantly downloading torrents, if the BeBox has diffiuclty handling too many connections, I could easily see it being overloaded. Im presuming that this is some kind of problem with the BeBox router then, as when we were on bulldog we didnt have any problems, so my question is, how do I change the router? My housemate, who set up the connection, seems to be under the impression that you cant use any old router, only the BeBox router will work (something to do with the frimware), is this true, or will any router actually work?

You can use other routers as highlighted earlier as long as they support the settings which I've posted Here

Also if you want to see what other people are using, you can visit the unofficial Be forum "other routers" threads at the link Here
