Wow a completely unthrottled and uncapped service. That's a rare thing these days.
Is there anyway out of a BT BB its about 8 months in. They have atrocious service and something like a 5gig/month limit.

    cancellation fee

no way to duck out. if you were getting really ****ty speeds you could complain and get it cancelled i think. but i suppose thats only within a 1st month or so unless it develops after.

Erk, how much is the cancellation fee abouts. They are paying so much for so little might be worth escaping out of it.

    Re: BeThere.co.uk - Wow

it's usually the cost of the remaining months of your contract. but maybe some differ. ill check bt bb t&c.

doesn't say much about fees though ,
you'd have to check the t&c for your service that you chose.

well, i have read that one way is to get them to cancel the contract, perhaps just keep continuously downloading or ring them and offend their staff a lot...

Hmm now that's an idea. Their DL limit is so low, it wouldnt take much dl'ing to hammer it.
What would they need to migrate to BE after they get out of their BB contract?.

But would they terminate or just charge you ridiculous amounts?

If BT speeds are anything like my Pipex service, you would be very very hard pressed to actually hit your limit, let alone go very much beyond it.

thats a good point i guess.

perhaps you should go along the "ring up tech support complaining how crap their service is using an expletive every other word" route then?

Just connected BeBox (new Speedtouch 585 v6) and got the speed below. Will be interesting to see how it changes ove the next week or so, especially the upload as we're on Be Pro.

There is no training period on Be (like those other ADSL2 connections), so the speed you connect at will remain more or less the same.

Apologies if this is not what you meant.

I thought they only swapped you to the Pro profile with faster upload when the S/N of your line had been established?

Found out my what I was thinking of...

If you have a good line you can ask to be moved to "FastPath" which takes interleaving off your connection, meaning it can be faster but reduces error correction.

Changing to "Upload Plus" should happen within the first week. It is based on your line quality but mine seems OK as am very close to exchange

    Uptime: 0 days, 2:50:37
    Modulation: G.992.5 Annex A
    Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,317 / 21,127
    Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 167.70 / 210.67
    Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 16.5
    Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 1.5 / 7.0
    SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.5 / 6.5
    Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / µ
    Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
    Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
    Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
    Loss of Link (Remote): 0
    Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
    FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 230
    CRC Errors (Up/Down): 28 / 0

    Re: BeThere.co.uk - Wow

Just ordered be bb, after years of great bb with nildram sadly tiscali's ownership forces me to move. I cannot fault nildram one bit, but with tiscali's shocking support its not worth the risk in waiting for an issue to occur. Even the person giving me my mac code couldn't fault my reason for going and was very good to deal with.

I only hope the be are anywhere near as good

So far so good , I'm being activated on the 8th so fingers crossed it will be a nice and smooth transfer.
