    Re: EVE-Online

Turning off brackets reduces the lag loads.

I can't remember the last time Jita crashed, and if the system is overloaded, you simply cant enter now. It's a big difference compared to what it used to be like

    Re: EVE-Online

I went into Jita last night, think there was over 1,000 in the system (about 200 people outside the main station, some were even fighting) and I only had about 1-2 second lag. MUCH better than before tbh where even 200 people in a system would cause several seconds of lag...

    Re: EVE-Online

Finally back to eve. PC blew up on xmas eve

The new wormholes thing coming in the next patch looks very interesting. Never really liked the fact you always had a map. Made space feel quite small.

With lag like agent said having a good overview setup, especially brackets really helps. In 0.0 where a few hundred ships can appear in the flash of a cyno, that few seconds less lag will often save your life. I used this guide http://bscl.thedoctoruk.com/OVERVIEW.pdf to figure it out. I recommend having a few different tabs for the ships you fly/things you do.

A quick example would be one each for navigation, fighting and grinding. Stations and gates on the nav one, just red's/nuets and no brackets on the fighting one, rats and wrecks on the grinding one. If you deal with fleet fights on a regular basis, a tab with nothing at all can help the grid load a lot quicker when lagged. Once you're loaded you can switch to another tab and you're sorted.

    Re: EVE-Online

Had 2 fun wars today one lasted wait for it... 2 Minutes. War declared at 05:54 and retracted at 05:56. We had a couple of days notice the dec was coming as a dec'd corp of friends was joining our alliance. So we very quietly joined their public/intel chans. Pretty much everyone they talked to outside their corp in the 12 hours preceding the war was someone from our alliance.

Apparently on discovering this they went apepoo(cough) with smack and immediately retracted the dec. Still one of the friendly corps pilots killed a cerb with a drake, much to our amusement. http://www.battleclinic.com/eve_onli...ter=kills#mail

The second; a friendly corp to the enemy lasted 8 hours. More ape fertiliser was thrown when they found out how much intel we'd garnered from their friends and logged in to find us already sitting outside their home stations ready to go

The smack was so pathetic even the locals who generally don't like us CVA friendly types, with it being minnie space. Were ripping into them. Many lolz were had by all.

We were pondering dec'ing them back, but I have no idea as I forgot to buy more eve time when my PC was down need to wait a week til I'm paid D'OH!

    Re: EVE-Online

A wise man wins the battle before fighting and all that(sorry to paraphrase you sun tsu)

Was looking at the skill queue. Not sure about everyone else, but it suits me down to the ground. You can have 23 hours of short ones then slap a L5 on the end and bobs your uncle.

For me anyway the short ones are the pain, even if you're sitting there playing it. Changing skills 2 or 3 times while trying to FC/PVP/hold off the herectic hordes is bad enough. Nevermind trying to remember which of the million 20min skills you wanted next as well without tabbing out to evemon etc.

3 days til I can resub, c'mon payday. I need my internet spaceships.

    Re: EVE-Online

BOB is disbanded most accounts suggesting it was a goon spy. http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingamebo...hreadID=990388

    tl;dr version as far I can tell;

Goons a got a spy into a director level spot, robbed a load of caps, disbanded the alliance, then reformed it with an alt, so BOB cant be reformed by the actual BOB players. A massive swathe of highly profitable space is about to lose sov. Poo is hitting fans all over the south.

Sorry to double post again but it seems my posting in this thread cues something interesting to happen in the world of eve mere minutes later

Sov or sovereignty is ownership of a 0.0 system. It gives many benefits like being able to build outposts(proper player owned stations that you can dock at etc), cynojamming, which prevents enemy cap ships jumping in and is the backbone of holding and defending 0.0 space. Normally even the most successful military campaign would have taken months to take all sov systems from an alliance as large as BOB.

Bob has lost all sov and outposts as of DT today, BOB as an entity has ceased to exist. Delve, period basis and querious are all without any sovereignty at all at the moment. I still cant log thanks to forgetting to re-sub, but by all accounts many major alliances are attacking, or preparing to attack, each wanting to take a cut of some of eve's most valuable real estate. Goomswarm is massed in BOB's former sov4 systems tearing through the heart of their cap production, taking down many POS's which were stupidly left without any stront. BOB obviously believing they would never lose the sov4 in fortress delve(sov4 in a system makes all alliance POS's in that system immune to attack). Already there are reports of titans and other supercaps in production being destroyed, along with many faction large towers.

It appears now that a high level director in BOB got sick of the alliance and defected to goonswarm, closing(deleting) the alliance on the way out the door, causing them to lose all sov at the next DT(no alliance = no sov). Former member corps are apparently in freefall, one BOB director quoted as saying "anyone logged in is just a casualty now" and are desperately attempting to evacuate their more valuable assets.

Extra large sov map to show all todays changes http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/V...20090205SE.png and what it looked like yesterday http://go-dl1.eve-files.com/media/co...e/20090204.png BOB space being the blue in the bottom left.

There is a lot more background info here from both sides http://www.kugutsumen.com/showthread.php?t=3604 probably NSFW as it contains goons. For those who don't know kugutsumen is one of eve's most successful freelance spies and generally just enjoys airing peoples dirty laundry(not involved directly in this action though). The Mittani is the goons famed spymaster(some background on the guy; http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=527) and the man claiming responsibility for turning the BOB director.

Personally BOB and goons are both kill on sight to me; so it's quite good fun just to watch from the sidelines

EDIT: just to clarify everything quoted in the kugutsumen link is stolen from either sides forums or chats.

Wow, what a mess... it must be gutting to have been part of BoB and have this happen to you.

Then again, from what I've read, they had it coming to them.
