Hmm, perhaps it's just me but I'm not balking at those prices.
£63 gets you 25000 gold which if you only use it for premium account benefit will get you 10 months of premium, that's 6 quid odd a month which most would happily pay for a decent MMO. I see myself probably stumping for 6 months of premium and enough gold kicking about to max out crew training and convert a little cash if I get impatient so the middle package would probably suit me fairly well.
If gold turns out to be much more expensive than that after launch though I may look at the initial outlay as a headstart investment and then run it as standard once I've managed to grind a couple of top tier tanks with the startup gold.
Actually I had heard figures of 100 gold for £1, so those prices are actually pretty cheap by comparison (about 400 gold for £1), but I wasn't expecting it to be in such big quantities. Thing is, I wouldn't actually be oppossed to spending £5-10 on this game, just because it is good quality and it would be nice to reward the developers as such. As to the game being ruined by premium tanks, gold is free at the moment, and I haven't noticed many premium tanks on my games, so I would think there would be even less once the game goes live.
Am I mad for actually now considering the "small" pack?
£32 and you get 5 months worth of Premium Account (£6.40/month) meaning +50% exp and credits, plus the A-32. So far, I'm liking the other USSR Light Tanks a lot, this one does actually look pretty good, and I therefore would not be at a disadvantage to all the others getting these tanks.
Put it this way; would you be willing to pay retail price for a game that keeps you occupied for a week or two? Say, £29.99.
If you really enjoy WoT then a couple of quid more than an off the shelf game is hardly something to get your knickers in a twist about for something that you can get potentially far more hours out of than a linear a-to-b single player game.
I've stumped for the medium package, like I say 6 months of premium and a bit of crew training once I grind up to about tier V or so sounds good to me. That and the medium premium tank will be fairly useful for generating credits when the need arises.
I never saw the premium tanks as anything but a bit of a cash grinder, certainly not a serious contender against upgraded 'normal' tanks.
Have you tried the other premium tanks? They're all fairly rubbish in one way or another. If they were too good they'd just be an easy 'I win' button taking away the whole point of putting the effort in to get decent tanks from XP.
No, I'm not bothered about premium tanks at all. I would rather they were a little bit naff, their advantage is in the fact that they don't cost as much to run.
Beginning to come round to Roxors way of thinking. If they will sell 2k gold for about £6 to me that would enable me to go beyond where I am now and I am Tier 3-4. Decent value to me; the premium account would be too much but I'm a casual player.
Fought an IS last night and wasn't pretty with an A20; ended up diving on top of him before I saw him.
Hehe, you don't really 'fight' an IS with a scout tank; more a case of tickle it and make it mad.
I thought I could run rings round him. Unfortunately you can spot the good tankers as they turn their tanks as well as their turrets to track you.....
I am getting into the Arty side of things. My bd-7 has becoming annoying to use since it doesn't have the power to hurt any of the tanks I am put up against. I normally use it as a fast scout to help out the arty players.
My SU-26 has become great fun though.
I think with upgrades the BT-7 is not too bad. The A-20 seems to be mismatched in almost the games I start it with.
My one gripe with russian lights is the large turning arcs even at low speed/stationary. My Luchs can turn on a sixpence (okay its square) but the A-20 needs a little circel when standing still.
The large turning circle is annoying me as well; especially when trying to hug an object for arty cover.
Currently grinding through the T-28 (which can be good fun a lot of the time) to get the KV. Once I've had a play with that, I'll probably hold off until release. Also play the Sturmpz II, and having looked at the tech tree, can't really see the point in going up a tier as you still use the same gun, which is all an arty is good for. Having said that, came up against a Priest and couldn't get through it's front armour, so there is some benefit to upgrading.
Things you can do with an A20 vs a big tank,
- Get close, touching close, you can get in under the barrel of some of the long guns making it very hard for him, while the A20 guns are all short barreled
- Go for the tracks, you'll not do any % damage but immobilising him gives you a chance to run.
- Run like buggery and pray your artillery is on the ball.
On premium tanks and the pre-order cost
I've seen quite a few premium tanks (not these 3 as they are pre-order only, Churchill's are a fairly common sight once you get to tier3-4 most of the premium tanks are pretty rubbish, often lacking in the gun and HP departments
The RAM-II and Matilda medium tanks are probably the best, with the churchill and T14 are ok as long end heavies
The PzKpfw 38H735 (f) is ok simply because it's a tier2 so you don't go up against that tough enemies
As has been said they are mainly for credit and to a lesser extent crew grinding, as they start out elite with trained crew and lower than normal repair costs.
Funny thing will be at the start all the tanks in the game will be starting or premium, so your going to get a lot or tier 4 battles made up of pure premium tanks.
I wish they did a cheaper pack, as it stands I might get the lowest cost pack, that would give me 5months of premium account, or 4 months and smoe lose change.

Don't hold your breath for the KV, it's a steaming pile of dog turd. Incredibly slow and unless you've got the lolcannon fitted it doesn't pack a great deal of punch, just makes for a big fat target.
Still, you have to suffer it to get to the much more enjoyable and capable KV-3.
Luchs has to be my favourite ligt tank so far. Its a pig to start with but after the upgrades it handles brilliantly and can almost hit 60kmh. 50cm gun is not brilliant but okay against most things.
Unfortunately the turret turns really slowly; the commander seems to be in charge of all the operations (according to wiki). It fairs badly in collisions too.
I might try the leopard but the matching may make it difficult to start.
