Yes... and I've seen more "insane" gaming rigs than that. For a number of flight-sim enthu's, that seems par for the course.
Best one I saw was a bloke (in Aus, I think) who built a complete 747 cockpit from authentic parts, with every single control working and mapped to the same function in MSFlightSim. IIRC, the whole thing was inside a 180ยบ projection screen and moved. He hired it out to pilots, but was actually a professional pilot himself too.
There will not be a full wipe. That is certain.
They *may* decide to do a partial wipe, which would counter the hacks and be easily substantiated by in-game plots.
But how does that actually affect you anyway?
There will always be players who have more, got a better start, etc.
Elite is not some kind of competition. There are no rewards for being the first to a billion credits or having the biggest ship (not that it will help you, as I've taken down Anacondas in a starter Sidewinder myself).
It's all about how you play your game.
Multiplayer... or MMO?
You can play online with other people. You cannot all get together in one place, without being split into multiple instances.
It is definitely Multiplayer.
Kickstarter is not selling finished products and it was never advertised thus.
Kickstarter funding also closed long ago (4th Jan 2013), as the project was successfully funded.
Kickstarter funding was intended to... well... kick-start the project, which it successfully did. Anything else is down to pre-order payments and merchandise purchases.
Not a level playing field?
So the free Eagle ship (one of the most manoeuvrable vessels going) they got with the pre-order would still have been a level playing field then, yeh??
What about those people with previous experience of space-sims?
Those with faster internet connections?
Those with better rigs?
Those with HOTAS instead of basic KB&M?
Are these the same people worried about getting mass-ganked every 5 seconds, in a game where there are 400 billion systems to be in...?
Whatever....
I really don't care. Just means more space for me and less whining over the comms channels!!
