Does anyone using Oculus Rift with ED? I have seen some videos on youtube and it looks amazing, however I am not sure if my gtx 970 will be suitable for that and even more is it worth to get it just for this game?

Hitting the exit at speed should soundly take out my shields and get me well on the way to an 8M insurance bill
You would think that for the 2T worth of cargo hold space a docking computer uses, it could do launch as well. Oh well, I think I am improving. One time I managed to get jammed in the slot, otherwise I think I got more clean exits than scraping bump noises. Doing community goals 432T per round trip is worth practising more for though.
Yep, great price, just purchased.

Well I have a GTX970 running with AA and max settings at 1440p and it runs at a solid 60 fps
The Occulus Rift needs just over 1080p @ 92fps so I'm confident a GTX970 will be fine.

On another note had a brown pants moment last night, picked the wrong fight in a combat zone with a Federal Gunship and a couple of escorts and ended up going boom in the Python...with only 200k in credits
Was pretty sure I was going back to a sidewinder but insurance let me de-select a few modules and re-buy on insurance (wasn't allowing before deselecting a few things so was pretty sure I'd messed up big time!). Seems the insurance value allowed varies per ship. My friend lost his Clipper completely and mentioned insurance offered him upto 850,000 (still not enough to buy the base ship as he'd already just died and was paying back the original insurance value when he died the second time). Insurance loan allowed on the Python was either 2 mill or 2.5 mill, can't quite remember, but it was definitely much higher than that offered on the Clipper so the values must be ship dependant.
Managed to put ~ 3mill in the bank again so I'm covered should it happen again.
Also 3 large gimbled pulse lasers and 2 medium plasma accelerators can earn you some serious credits in a hazardous RES. High risk bounty hunting is great fun, what's the point if there's no risk to yourself
FYI: Hunting in Belarsuk system at the Hazardous RES site in orbit of Belarsuk 3A

Turrets aren't really that worthwhile in my experience. The bigger class they are the slower they track/move and so unless you're fighting other big stuff they'll miss almost everything. Not to mention the projectile speed (cannons in general) tends to drop off significantly when you get to bigger calibers.
The Courier and Clipper do have their place, but they're primarily very fast multirole ships that can do a bit of everything. The Courier has phenomenal strength shields given its size so can work well as a small scout type ship that's able to carry a small amount of cargo. Small scale armed trading/pirating, assassination work, smuggling etc it can do them all.
The Clipper is one of my favourite ships. Incredibly quick (second only to the Cobra) for its size, and has good pitching ability - but needs A grading to get the best from it. The shielding is pretty poor since it's a very big ship; no outpost ability here, you need a large pad. As a medium capacity trader, it has no equal. It can carry a little more than the Type 7, but will do about 420ms on boost (even loaded with 220T of cargo). Even with poor class 3 shields nothing is going to keep up with it that can mass lock it. You don't even need to bother with weapons! On the other hand, as a pirating vessel it's superb. Nothing can run away except a Cobra, but you'll disable his drives in seconds since the Clipper has decent sized hard points. The only real downer is their position, you're pretty much forced to use gimbals in order to get good convergence.
Minimum specs say GTX 970 or AMD R9 290 and an i5-4590, which they guarantee will never change... So on that front, you should be "without issue".
I have a 780 with i5-3570K, so that's me stuffed... unless I can make a cheap 2nd hand DK2 work?
It's a docking computer, not an Undocking or Launch computer...
I had another bash and noted that they have improved the docking side for the big'uns.
So how the heck would a Corvette survive against a squad of poxy little Eagles, then?
It turns like a dead cow, so Fixed is out of the question - Would Gimbals be a better option, do you think?
I get that it should ideally carry a couple of fighters for its own defence and/or travel with powerful escorts, but that then immediately excludes the entire Solo playerbase... which doesn't make sense from a gameplay/Dev perspective...
Unless the idea is to run away from anything that is smaller and/or faster?
But as a Trader, it is then hampered by the inability to use Outposts. I'd argue it is bettered by a properly kitted Python, which carries up to 292T and can use Outposts.
But the Python costs ~ 56 million, and the Clipper 22 million so it's not a fair comparison.

Picked up the boxed DVD version on the Frontier store for £12.99. One of my dad's crimbo presents sorted!
I'd reply but I'm not sure what point you're making
Point being you can't moan about the Clipper's downsides verses a ship that costs 2.5 times as much, of course it's not going to be a good!
My point is that I would expect the reverse - Bigger/more expensive ship = loads of tonnage, but no Outpost landing.
Also, with the Clipper being quite a good combat ship and an especially good Pirate option, I'd also expect it to be landable at all the unsanctioned/Piratey Outposts so you can sell your naughty cargo...
Yes, fair point that would make sense. I guess I'm arguing from a what you get your money stand point, whereas you're arguing more about the game mechanics.
Still think the price for the clipper is reflective of it's abilities and draw backs
Doing some serious bounty hunting in my current Python now....3x Class 3 Gimballed Pulse Lasers, 2x Class 2 Plasma Accelerators, 4x A rated shield boosters (currently a B6 shield), and maxed out shield cell generators in all the other internal compartments (around 25 recharges total).
Best haul I've taken between re-supply at the station is around 4.4 million. Can usually get between 2 million and 3 million without trying though and that's around 1 hours play
I succumbed.
But I'm struggling with controls at the moment. Can't get my Saitek Gold 3D USB calibrated well enough.
I play with mouse and keyboard kalniel, actually prefer it, although most think I'm mad. If you want to meet up in the game for a friendly "beginner's guide" let me know. I'm normally on in the evenings around 9pm till 11pm
Already gave Allen a guided tour of the game and he found it was really useful. There's a lot to learn so if someone shows you the basics (and more) it really helps you enjoy the game.
