I would give it a go. You don't need full scans, just activate your discovery scanner and move on.

Accept the community goal *before* handing in your system scans. If you hand in one single scan that is accepted, then that currently gets you 400K as a payout when the CG ends! I spent a couple of days flying around in an Asp set up for exploration and that got me a couple of million from selling the systems scans and am currently looking at 5M as a CG reward. I expect that CG will end in a couple of days, so I wouldn't go crazy trying to gather data if you want to play I would get there and get some scans banked.

Or go to Kausalya, get yourself a Viper and go kick some Emperor's Dawn butt Spend money on shields, and help take down ships that are already limping badly from the NPCs, run away sooner rather than later if things heat up. You just have to "tag" a hostile with weapon fire to get the combat credit. Hope to be piling back in there tonight myself

Edit to add: The systems around Lave sell rares (like Lavian Brandy IIRC) so you could pick up some high profit goods while in the area. Rares trading in a Hauler is how I got started, and ISTR I went straight to an ASP from there.

TBH I bought my Asp too soon. A big FSD on that ship is big money, so to start with it was a step backwards.

OK had a look at the online tools now - will have to delay my plans for the cobra I think

On the other hand the hauler can just about get to Lave if I fly nearly empty and stop for fuel a couple of times. There are rather a lot of 'unknowns' on route, and some low-sec systems.. does that mean I'm going to need a bit of defence?

Just got interdicted and blatted by a PowerPlay opponent...

Usually it's just a Viper or an Eagle or something, so I'd be able to boost and run, withstanding the damage until I can jump back out.
This time it was an Anaconda with a pair of Pythons in a wing - My Type-9 went down in seconds, costing me 74mil, plus upgrades, plus full payload!!!!!

After the rebuy, I was left with 640 Cr, which wouldn't even buy me a pot to pee in, let alone a hold full of cargo...

Rebuy was 13mil, plus another 1.7mil in cargo.

But speaks of an engineering mindset to have *just* enough to rebuy

Well, Private Group, anyway - I usually wing up with some friends for RES hunting and we responded rather violently to a string of players forever kill-stealing off us, so we felt it was better to go Private.

But yeah, this was NPCs doing this to me!!

I could have made more profit from grinding RES zones, but where is the fun in that.
