    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

probably bios 11/12 i reckon, i upgraded to an e6600 after that.

    ust work it in steps.

im not convinced that you are overclocking properly atm.

ensure you have unlinked the FSB/RAM

    up the CPU to 1.40v
    DDR2 to 2.1v
    NB VTT 1.49v
    other one 1.46~

Set the FSB to 1500 (which works out at 375)

should at least boot up, then u can start tetsing cpu and memory.

16 cleared a few problems for me when i was trying to get up to 2.9ghz with my g3 stepping Q6600. I'm not sure if I can get it any higher than 2.85 now anyways, but that's an improvement on 2.7 with version13. Possibly I just have a CPU with low headroom.

damn, on Abits CPU Guide it states BIOS 16 for those..

im currently on Bios 14, i checked last night.

i wonder if the lower power consumption would help the oc on a .45 chip on a 650SLI over the current Q6600 parts.

Will the Intel Q9450 - 45nm Yorkfield, work with this motherboard?

I wouldn't expect to get a very high fsb though.

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

When you say a very high FSB do you mean that it won't work very well at clock speeds or are you refering to overclock speeds?

overclocking (& I'm saying that it should support the QX9450 on the basis that the QX9650 is shown as supported already, it being the only available Yorkfield so far)

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

Has anyone seen this with BIOS 16...?

I have a SATA (boot drive) and IDE (data drive). SATA is the primary boot device.
When I reboot the BIOS swithces the drives round and make the IDE the boot drive, thus the system won't boot. I have to manually go back into the BIOS to change the setting.

If I shut down then the SATA drive stays the boot drive.

I've now gone back to BIOS 14. all is fine (including my 3GHz O/C)

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

I have all but given up on this thing now, What is it thats restricting the overclock? the roasting hot northbridge or is the chipset just not suited to it especially with Q6600?

I have a northbridge waterblock coming tomorrow along with some arctic silver and new tubing, will report back and see if it makes a difference.
