hmm, no it only has the 4pin connector, not sure if its atx 2.2 either doesn't say.

    it's this one:
    (www) . microdirect.co.uk/(12394)650W-Quiet-ATX-PSU-SATA-cable-12cm-fan-20-4-pin.aspx

i suspect that's the problem, explains why it appears to have power and all sounds good but doesn't actually do anything!!

can you get reasonably priced psu's that would fit the bill? i'd rather not spend another £60+, but if needs must i'll get one tomorrow.

    thanks for your help

definitely that psu a decent one will cost you about £60-70 and make sure its got the 8 pin eps 12v connector for the board or you'll get a lot of problems

    good luck mate

my system runs fine with a Jeantech 400w psu with only a 4 pin 12V cable...so dont bank on that solving all your probs - though it would be nice if it does!

try clearing your CMOS (jumper next to the on/off button built into the board)

well i'm fed up now. bought the new psu, which looks lovely, but has made no fecking difference. this is just getting expensive now!

everything still powers on fine, all fans come on, disks spin, but no POST beeps and no signal to a monitor or keyboard.

i have no compatible spares to try different configurations of stuff but seeing as it won't even post i'm guessing the board is toast?

    hmm, silly question:

does the board have an on-board speaker for POST beeps or could there be something wrong with it?

    That's up to you.
The QuadGT still has a few imo v. minor issues but they mostly affect quadcores.
    It's an extra £40 (50%) over the FP-IN9 though.

I strongly suspect that the FP-IN9 will come good with some BIOS development.
is it oc'able and only need small NB voltages to hit high FSB?
    The QuadGT is v. oc'able & imo it's the fastest 965 currently.

try with just 1 DIMM installed - the JEDEC spec is 1.8V but most 6400 needs~2.0V.
if it lets you into the BIOS then increase the Vdimm, save, exit & shut down.
    Install 2nd DIMM & boot.

tried each dimm in every socket! no joy.

is it worth getting the cheapest stick of ram i can and trying that first, or should i just take it all back and hope its not an incompatibility? if it is i'll no doubt get charged for taking things back

Had a word with abit for you all, Bios update (beta) should be out by next week, Peter is snowed under with cebit at the moment, will keep you informed.

However I will not do a full review on this board until abit have addressed these Bios issues, to give everyone a fair chance. Indeed I myself have experienced much of the same problems with this board, due to an immature BIOS

However I am at the moment working on the IN90 HD board (the ATI RS600) WILL have a full review soon.

looks like abit didnt want anyone reviewing this board before they released it to customers. they obviously knew it was destined to fall over (like the QuadGT did in early reviews) but wanted to cash in as quickly as possible before the bad word got out.

quite poor, but it certainly teaches me to WAIT for reviews until purchasing hardware.

I disagree as this seems to be their current modus operandi.
Look at the F-I90HD, that currently seems to be the best C2D mATX mobo going & it's the same situation - in shops before reviews.

well i took everything back and the problem almost beggars belief, apparently i was the second person to come in with the same problem. they claimed that there is a known incompatibility with the board and wait for it...... the E6400

how you can release a board that is incompatible with one of the main processors in the family it is designed for is beyond me.

anyway i swapped it for a bog standard P5B and hey presto everything works fine.

sorry abit, but this is a joke of a board in its present state
