aha, well the going rate for a "proper" CQ OC is like a Q6600 "go" upto at least 3.4Ghz maybe even 3.6-3/8, but obviously by that point you're going to be hitting the CPU limit i would think,

resolved my own problem, i had set S1 Power mode to on Via Left click, it didnt work, neither did clearing the CMOS, or removing the battery. However, doing both and leaving the PC for half a hour like that did the trick and let me boot into bios defaults.

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

Bios 16 seems just as useless. I really cant see why this is a fatal1ty branded board, stock everything is great but it really is lousy for overclocking even with G0 and water cooling.
Does anyone have bios 13? Abit dont seem to have that on their website and some people have reported success with that.
Also is there any "pin" mod I can do on a G0 Q6600 to try and adjust the multiplier? If I dont get the board involved in anything different maybe its worth trying. I have tried high FSB's and the best I can do is a half stable 3GHz.
Still waiting on a half decent bios.

I bought an IP35-E and I've go t my Q6600 G0 at 3.6 right now. It's not stable in Prime95 cos of a pretty big vdroop, but It's stable at 3.4 for over 10hrs.

the Fatal1ty branded mobos aren't marketed for overclocking but for gaming.
No 650i SLI chipset mobo is good for fsb overclocking a quadcore - it's a chipset issue.

I can't remember what the issue was but there will have been 1 for them to have dropped the link.

the number of people, myself included who expcted the Fatal1ty branded mobo's to be half decent overclockers then have clearly been mis-marketed to. Maybe our expectations were set too highly i dont know. But i dont know anyone who bought this board with expectations that it would be a lousy clocker...

FWIW, i am a Product Marketing Exec in a tier 1 B2B Reseller, so i do know about the subjectivity of marketing.

    Unhappy Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

Hello guys, I am a new here. I have Abit Fatality FP-IN9 SLI , however it seems that the RAM's clock speed whcih is 800Mhz must be DOWNCLOCKED to 667.
Does any one know how to do this from the BIOS (actually it is AwardBIOS by Phoenix).
Can anyone tell me how to change the clock speed of the RAM from 800 to 667 ???
I appreciate any help since i am quite despiared.

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

    hi quite easy in the bios, just go into the top left option on the red screen, then choose to adjust the memory;

enter the number 667 into that box for DDR2, choose the CPU Unlinked.

although i must ask why u want to run at 667 and not 800?

Fatal1ty isn't an overclocker though but a gamer so why should the Fatal1ty brand be associated with extreme overclocking?
Now if it was e.g. Fugger branded I could understand that association.

Secondly, as I said it's a chipset issue with 650i SLI (& indeed many 680is) & quadcores - you will not find a 650i SLI based mobo that fsb overclocks quad cores well.
It will overclock dual-cores quite reasonably if you can negotiate the memory holes that again are common to 650i SLI.

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

Does anyone have any idea how to get a respectable OC out of this board?

    I am on Bios 16

    E6400

    OCZ Nvidia Ram 5-4-4-15 800MHz 4 x 2gb

    Geforce 7800GT x 2 SLi

Liquid cooling for CPU NB and GPUs

Everything I do causes it to hang!

also what would be a better next board to get for this spec?

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

try major fsb jumps to get past some of the memory holes.
You may well toil with all that RAM though - again 650i SLI isn't noted for great 4 DIMM RAM stability ...

@harbourcoat - first try FSB 1333. If it don't work try bios 13. It's awful to downgrade it but it helps (me at least)

So for C2D overclocking would you guys recommend BIOS 13?

    Thanks for your replies.

    atm I am

    Reference clock 295MHz
    Multiplier 8x
    FSB 1,180 (QDR)
    Mem Bus frequency 885(DDR) MHz
    PCI-E Clock Reference 2,925Mhz

how is that?? Not too good hey.

Maybe a new mother board is not a bad Idea. I want to spend the same but dont need raid or Fire wire. a Toslink Optical would be nice. I am getting a 8800GT but still need two PCI-E slots cause I want 4 monitors.... does not need to be SLI.

    Thanks a lot!!

P.S. I bought a P5b for my nephew and we overclock that SOB no problem and I did not even overvolt it!! 3.4GHz on a E6600

it's largely down to the chipset - P965 imo is better than 650i SLI & P35 is better again.

P35 based with 2 physical x16 (albeit 2nd will only ne x4 electrical) e.g. abit IP35 Pro or Gigabyte P35-DS3P or X38 e.g. abit IX38 QuadGT or Asus P5E series.

disregarding the SLI i have been there with an E6400 and didnt have any probs getting to like 3.2Ghz, just up the voltages a little bit and set the FSB to 1500 (375mhz) and that should be okay, then try 1600 for example and see how that goes.

Was that with Bios rev16 or 13? also I have tried overvolting and the whole thing would not post..... scared the crap out of me haha.
