    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

CPU-Z reports the same details for my E4400

I have now used the following

    Bios 16

    sli-ready memory not detected (i have 3 1gig strips)
cpu operating speed UNLINKED ( very important unless you have very fast memory)
    cpu core voltage 1.4v
    multiplier 10X
MEM (DDR2) 800 (running at its native speed)

and in advanced bios features\cpu feature
    eist function disabled
    thermal control enabled
    limit cpuid maxval disabled
    c1e function disabled
    execute disable bit enabled

    Front side bus speeds

    801
    900
    1100 all no posts

1200 posts after a hardware reset
    1266 no post

    1300
    1333
    1340
1360 all post and load xp

1400 posts but fails to load xp and re-boots

I have defauts for all other settings

apart from onchip audio and onchip lan both are set to disabled (I have no use for them)

I currently have the system set to fsb 1400 multipier 9X voltage 1.4v

Hope some of the above works for you, its a tricky board to overclock using the E4400 due to the large gaps in finding a working fsb, and especially for anyone with a later edition of the E4400.
which I have read may not overclock as well, it may be worth trying a lower multiplier to allow the FSB to be pushed higher

i have left the memory running as detected which has rather loose timings for now, and will not be overclocking it.

have you tried upping the VTT voltage? I found out that it helps but it's insane to keep it maxed (in my case) to have somewhat stability for 24/7.

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

This board is absolutely hopeless for FSB clock, especially with quads. If that's what you care about and you're not an SLi user, you're sure to get far more stability, less crappy chipset drivers and no scary need to crank VTT (VFSB) right up with a P35 board. X38 isn't really any advantage in terms of overclocking, so unless you need to run crossfire, there's no point.

I've had 3 Gigabyte boards since my FP-IN9 and all have been far more reliable and none had issues with losing CMOS settings, refusing to warm boot, etc, so I've totally given up on Abit now.

no I have never changed the vtt, played Jerico and warhammer winter assault on it yesterday all settings maxed out (using a ati 1950xt) without any problems so far

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

I've had no luck with version 16 and overclocking.
But my USB "SpeedBoost" drive seems to have stopped dropping out after every reboot.

Any other things I should try?

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

650i SLI has large memory holes so sometimes large fsb increases to jump over those work.
Someone else with 1 recently found out that his would boot at 450fsb when lower settings didn't work ...

    With a 9 or 8 multiplier? (stock 10)

    Budget?

The IP35-E is £59 but doesn't have RAID or firewire.
abit IP35 is £73 atm on SCAN Today Only & has both of the above.
    Gigabyte P35-DS3P is £86 with the DS4@£100
abit IP35 Pro is £105 on Today Only
ok i would go for a IP35 or pro what do we get for the extra ££

also i would not get it from scan so mite have to look around for a good price as they have not been good to me the last 2 times i got stuff from them long story but they just suck imo

    thanks for the info

    IP35 Pro v IP35

gains uGuru, 2nd physical x16 PCI-E slot, 2 x eSATA, 2nd Gigabit LAN, onboard power & reset buttons plus external clearCMOS switch, 100% solid caps as opposed to "just" the important ones, slightly richer BIOS, different chipset cooling.

As for the DS4 v the Pro the DS4 still has legacy headers if you need serial ports etc. other than that I personally would buy the IP35 Pro.

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

what do you call properly (bearing in mind that all systems are diffferent & that no level of overclock is ever guaranteed)?

I think that you are asking can it fsb overclock a quad core well (assuming that other components are upto it) & the answer is, yes.
It's a far better chipset in that regard than 650i SLI.
