going for a DFI DK P35-T2RS myself and Q6600 leaving Abit well behind me, as of...tomorrow.
it's not an abit problem though, it's an nVidia chipset one e.g. a Q6600 works very well in the IP35 series because it's a different chipset.
Wow I just finished reading ALL of this thread.....What a tale of woe for Abit and I just bought one of theses , it wont post either . Its May 22nd Abit , isn't it time this was fixed ?
So wots the best version of Asus to use ? This Abits going back . And as for it being the chipsets fault not Abit ......who makes the board ? who fits the chipset at manufacture ? Who takes our money ?
This lack of customer care couldnt get any worse...just off the phone to Abit Netherlands they offered to sell me a later bios chip for a NEW m/board i bought Wednesday could it get worse ?
Well yes it already has..... I,ve had to buy ANOTHER Abit board to repleace the one that doesnt work while the supplier gets the other new one checked out
Hi Mike,
Following on from our telephone conversation, apologies for the response you got from our technical support line, I believe there was a breakdown in communication.
As your supplier is collecting your board and shipping you a new one by courier today I am sure you have no need to source a new BIOS.
Any more problems, please let me know.
regards
Nathan
Nathan , many thanks for the help on the phone
And may i wish you all the best , thank you
OK here we go , I borrowed a known good PC with a Fatality FP-IN9 motherboard installed in it with Intel E6750 processor... I changed over the graphics card , memory and all was fine I then installed my E8400 processor ....the PC then failed to post , so I,m now waiting for the new bios chip being sent from Abit with version 16 bios.
As an aside the known good PC has bios version 14 ... again thanks Nathan for organising the new chip .
neither PC has a floppy drive.... I,m not sure how to flash it and the Abit site states I need a floppy to do it with ?
If theres a way to achieve it useing a DVD/CD drive please tell me how, any help is appreciated
it is possible to do it via an optical but if you don't have a floppy then the next best thing is an USB memory stick.
How to boot/flash an Abit board from a USB flash drive - Universal abit USA Forums
or as a last resort there is FlashMenu.
I,m gonna play safe and wait for the chip but thanks for the links etc

Hi guys,
I have been using this mobo for 2 years now, I recently decided to upgrade the CPU to a Q9550 after checking on the abit site that it was supported by the version 16 BIOS..
So I've upgraded the BIOS to v16, and installed my new Q9550, but cannot get it to run..
By default it sets the clock speed to 333x8.5 (which is what it is meant to be), but it requires that you go into the BIOS setup and save the changes..
After doing that it reverts to 471x6.0 (which results in the same clock speed of 2.83 GHz) but this higher bus speed of 471 causes the system to blue screen straight away every time..
I've been through every setting in the BIOS and cannot find anywhere to adjust either the bus speed or the multiplier..
Can anybody help me??
Jarrad
probably a stepping issue?
try the EO stepping beta 18 http://www.abitshop.eu/bios/m624b_18.bin
Thanks for your quick reply.
I tried that BIOS upgrade, and it appeared to work, it has sorted the issue with the bus speed and is now at 333x8.5..
However, about 3-5 seconds into loading windows I still get a BSOD..
I know this is directly related to the CPU as it works fine with the old E6750 in it..
My question now is, is there something wrong with the CPU?? Or is there still some underlying bug relating to the motherboard??
It's going to cost me $45 to send the CPU (Q9550) back under warranty and have it checked, so I want to make sure it is the CPU that is to blame..
Thanks,
Jarrad
