    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

Well I finally got all the water cooling stuff installed and added a northbridge waterblock which has solved the heat problem but hasn't made a jot of difference to overclocking the Q6600.
I have wasted enough money on this board now, is the Abit IP35 based board any good?

    yes, it is.
nF650i SLI just isn't a good chipset for fsb oc quads.

    E4300 1.8GHz.
I just upped the voltages by about 2 settings on each one.
Set the FSB to 1333 and the mem to 800.
    Multiply default at 9.
    Bios 14 (this also worked on 13, 15 & 16)
    Stable 3GHz O/C/
Perhaps the E3160 is like the quads, it just don't clock too good on the 650I SLI chipset. The Allendale and Conroe chips seem fine.

woow,, ok, so i think the best bios for OC is:
    for E4xxx = bios 13m
    for E 6XXX = bios 14..

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

The FP-IN9 is capable of doing over 500fsb with an appropriate dual, with a quad it's a chipset issue that keeps the fsb down not abit's fault e.g. Asus P5N-E SLI is exactly the same .

And some cpu's are capable of 5.0Ghz with the appropriate cooling .

Imo it would be fairer to say that the FP-IN9 is capable of around 420fsb with a dual core, after that it becomes a real lottery as to what you can achieve on any given day.

Thumbs up Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

    Hi guys,

I´ve seen so many people mad about O.C with the FP-IN9... Here i dont have ANY problems.... I believe that´s those problems are related to FSB HOLE or bad O.C configuration...

Seens that FSB hole happens a LOT when using an E2XXX, E4XXX series..... FSB800 to 1066 seen´s problematic in varius cases.... My E6550 came from factory with FSB@1333 and i dont have any problems to put he at a acceptable FSB@1600.... The only thing i had to do was spend some hours with tests to find the perfect voltage settings.... CPU_VTT is a very important factor when raising your FSB...

I´m running a good FSB400 with E6550 for some 3 month´s now and i dont have a single problem... This board is also ROCK SOLID ! I also running BIOS 14...

For sure this board is NOT for the CRAZY OVERCLOCKER guys..... But for the normal overclock enthusiast it´s quite a great board!

    Great Value and overclock options....

I agree with Jimborae.... Get an stable FSB@400 is quite easy... Anything more than FSB@420 stable for dayli use seens dificult to archieve....

    Regard´s

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

    Hello everybody.
I'm trying to overclock an e2140 on this board with 1.6 bios. I can't raise the fsb not even 1 MHz.
I tried upping the voltages (core, vtt, nb), but it wouldn't post. I hnow that with a low fsb increase (850 MHz QDR) it wouldn't need any voltage increase but it doesn't post with or without it if i try raising the FSB by any value.
Previously i had a Pentium D 915 wich overclocked like a charm but with this e2140 i am lost.
Please advise me on what should i do to overclock this cpu.
    Thank you.

If you had read this topic carefully you would know that this board have FSB holes. Try 1333MHz.

one last little note - this computer is whisper silent and all cooling is on air.

    system:
    abit fp-in9 bios 15 NB - 1.5v
    intel e6600 stepping B2 Vcore - 1.43, VTT - 1.35
2x1GB crucial ballistix tracers with lots of shiny leds Vdimm - 2.4
    1 x W.D 2500aaks 250GB h.d.
    1 x leadtek px8800gts 320mb
PSU - one brand new corsair VX550, got the same results with a HEC 400TRT, not a bad psu just, well, messy cables small fans and bad amplitude on the rails.
    cooling:
standard gigabyte triton case (two low-rpm and low performance gigabyte 120mm fans - in and out)
1x zalman cnps 9700nt cpu cooler (5.5 quare meters of copper surface, 110 mm pwm fan)
    1x zalman zm-mfc2 digital fan controller +cvs +temp monitor
1x intel stock cpu fan thats simply lying on my 8800 facing upwards underneath my nb blowing air through the heatsink.

    results (stable):
FSB: 426.7 * 4 = 1707 MHz (can get alittle higher - around 1730 but i dont want to push it for daily use)
    CPU: 426 * 8 = 3413 MHz
RAM: 800 MHz (3-3-3-3-1T) <- i cant seem to sqeeze anything on the MHz side with this board, but that latency is sick!

superpi 1M stable, around 14.5 sec.
everest ram bench goes about 10500 read i can't remember the rest but its alittle under the-10k
NOT orthos stable due to ram failure, though i get that even if i drop the timings to 5-5-5-15. i reckon its the memory controller on that NB since this ram is known to be pushed WAY further (micron D9GMH) without a hitch.
    temps under load (orthos)
    ~72c cpu
~ 55 mem (i have a temp diode under the heatspreader from my mfc-2)
~ 56 NB (same caption as above)

It is my honest opinion, that given just alittle active cooling on the NB, this board while not being a world overclocking record breaker is good enough for decent oc'ing.
actually, with alitle love, it is awesome - though it did take me ALOT of time to find its sweetspots.
feels silly quoting myself, but i just needed to post both threads

I finally gave up on this board and got a DFI UT P35-T2R for my quad core. 3.8GHz no problem, I have always gone for Abit boards and this hasn't put me off as it does have quite good overclocking features and people have had some success but the amount of time I put in trying to get the quad even up to 2.7GHz is crazy, i read reviews but they used duo's, felt good to chuck this thing up in the loft though maybe I will buy a cheap dual for my 2nd PC at some point and use it.

it's a chipset issue, you won't find any 650i SLI mobo that would take your quad to 3.8GHz but if you put it in lots of other P35s (incl. abits) they will.
