This is my first post guys, but I believe I have been following every posting with this topic since day one. I will try to post a little more info on my issues/fixes with the TV Wonder Elite. I know, blah blah blah, what's the point of this reply?

Wanted to let you know that ATI has posted their .86 release of Theater 550 today.

THEATER 550 PRO TV Tuner Drivers
    Version 6.14.10.86
    Posted: July 14, 2005
    File Size: 3.9 MB
    WHQL Certified

Oh as usual, no revision log so not sure what was changed.

    Have a good day!

    Well BFever,…

    Excellent first post IMO

I’ll checkout the new driver since the last release seemed to have messed up the radio functionality in MCE 2K5. Maybe this will fix it,….

    Thanks for the heads up.

    Thanks Octavean.....

I have been dealing with a tech support rep at ATI (which I would rather not disclose his name) but he has told me the following differences between .82 and .86 is ATI is working on improving platform compatibility as well as video/audio encoding performance. It has been observed on some configurations that there may be delays and sync issues in captures and sometimes during live preview.

That's all that I have on that.

I really hope we get some answers to that compilation list many of you submitted. The biggest problem I have is the Volume issue that they never fixed. I tried the Graphedit fix to change the number to 255 but my TV Wonder Elite pulses the volume up and down.

Still no sharpness in MCE. I'm annoyed, I guess with ATi doing Xbox, MS is letting their drivers slip by even though they don't meet MS's own requirements.

Well install the latest drivers 6.14.10.86
I'm still not very impressed at all still all very same major problem as before
1: cthelper.exe still crash at boot up
2: Still can't use diff video resolution like 352x480
3: Audio level still way to low even know it MAX out to 255 at lease the FM part rigth on the money.
4: The MPEG files generated by the Theater 550 Pro are not very compatible with some tools like let say Ulead DVD MovieFactory when I try set up auto 1 min chapters point it carp out after 6 min's in to it and using Womble MPEG-VCR MPEG "GOP fixer" I fine it show lot's of error in GOP time code which not good at all, But writing out a new files with Womble MPEG-VCR fix the problem.

I use Ulead DVD WorkShop and never have any problems with chapters. I also use VideoReDo if i need to edit out commercials, etc., it never shows any errors in the video or audio. I can't wait to try the new drivers for the sharpness control though!

I thought the picture looked a bit sharper, without tweaking any of the settings, with the new driver. I could be wrong. I did play with the volume setting, but it didn't seem to do a thing. Is that the normal case for MCE?

Backlund: This has been the case since the first ATI driver was released. I am using MCE 2005 and I was informed by ATI to change the volume to 225 via the following instructions.

    - Run REGEDIT
    - Click on the (+) icon next to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
    - Click on the (+) icon next to "SYSTEM"
    - Click on the (+) icon next to "CurrentControlSet"
    - Click on the (+) icon next to "Control"
    - Right click on “Class" and select Find
    - Search for “ATI Unified AVStream”
    - Click on the (+) icon next to "00xx"
    - Select “BoardSetting” key
    - Locate and right click on the “Volume” setting -> select Modify
    - Select Decimal and change setting to 225 (255 appears to clip)
    - Restart Windows

I notice a slight bump in volume but not much. Let me know what you encounter. I am using two TV Wonder Elite's.

bubbaganoush yes Creative driver and reinstalling that software will not do any good becuases if I was to disable the ATI 550 in the device manager and reboot the problem is gose away so there for it had to do with ATI drivers.

thethinman have you try non edit files in WorkShop and what ver are you using? I only use Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2
