    Re: Minecraft?

Iron isn't the issue - we can get plenty of rail tracks from mines. We just need gold for powered rails.

I've not found any mod that allows for it (you need a mod to change the texture size and the mod only allow for bigger textures.)

EDIT;going to give optimine a go
SimpleCraft is the one I'm using, I thought it was one of the lower 'looking' resolution textures, but it's not, it's just smoothed.

I fancy having a go at my own skin/texture but I think I lack the creativity and concentration. Useful templates here for any budding Tony Harts

    Re: Minecraft?

it does, maybe loses a little bit of the charm somewhere along the way though... but high res skins and the water mod

personally i cant wait until all this dies down after launch and i can spend more time playing it than i do fapping over new stuff - seems to be updated every other day at the mo. are we on 1.8? 1.81? 1.9rc3? goddammit, 1.7whatever was so /easy/.

    Nice I like that one

I do like the 8x8 textures as they are nicely simplistic, it's just that they are not actually 8x8, they are made as 8x8 but are then doubled up, so each pixel becomes 4
This is because as standard minecraft can only use a fixed texture size, there are mods that allow it to use higher resolution textures, but none that let it use smaller ones.

I may well make my own texture pack.

the default is nicely simplistic, 8x8 must really be like a lego world.

    Re: Minecraft?

Here you go a 8x texture pack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30q2X6Nuu4w

or what about this a 1x texture pack

there are high res photo realistic texture packs eg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ3OtnQzgeE but with the cuboid nature of minecraft I think they just look silly and out of place.

I did see a really nice 4x texture pack, looked like the SimpleCraft one that mycarsavw linked too, but I cannot find it now

    Re: Minecraft?

The Mob trap is now fully up and running.

You get a lot more drops during the day because at night mob's can spawn on the ground around the area so the chances of them spawning in the trap are less (it should be built over the sea to get round that.
While I was going to put a 2nd level on it, I'm not so sure now.
The problem is Endermen, they keep pulling up blocks causing leaks, with a single level I can move around under it and patch the holes but not with a 2nd level.
I've got a plan for an alternative, I know it worked on earlier versions not sure if it still does, will need to test it.

    Re: Minecraft?

Obsidian farm works, it's a modifed version of this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWSOu...eature=related

It's near the old railway start, to the right, if there's obsidian there, mine it out, then place redstone dust at the bottom, then pour lava in the middle - remove it again and wait, et voila, another 7 blocks of obsidian

In one of the next releases/ final release I believe they are making it so Endermen cant lift cobblestone blocks, so if you have made it out of cobble, it might be a case of just repairing it until that fix/ update comes out.

    Re: Minecraft?

BlackDwarf, PM me your minecraft username please and I'll reply with the details. I need the username to be able to give you permissions to build etc.

Would it be worth trying to make a sticky with the details of how to get access to the server?

P.S. This should be in PC Gaming TBH...

I might pop on at some point over the weekend to see what you've all been building. Got myself addicted to WoW again (Doh!) which is why I've not been on since the new 1.8 server.
