just had to shut down for around 3 weeks, not confident in my computers stability to leave it running while i'm away and i can't justify 24/7 by saying it's heating my room! i'll try home computers but will be way down unfortunately, i was doing so well!

Quick step by step guide to set up SMP:

1) Download SMP client here
2) Unzip in to folder with write permissions, e.g. C:/Users/David/FAH
3) Right click on the Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe and select create shortcut
4) Right click new shortcut and click properties
5) In the target box, type "-configonly" right at the end without quotes, click ok
6) Launch shortcut
7) Enter info as normal, answer yes to change advanced options
8) Keep hitting enter (unless you want to change other settings) until you get to "Additonal client parameters", here enter "-smp" without quotes
9) Keep hitting enter and the window would eventually disappear
10) Delete shortcut
11) Run Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe

Thanks for the feedback - good to know that it was running slow!
I will fiddle with the config and see what happens! Maybe I will try the other clients if my poor little e5200 is indeed short a few cores for SMP.

Gah, I'm such a muppet! If it's the first time you're folded on that machine you won't be getting bonus points yet, so actually it might be right. :/ If you have got all the setting right for SMP then give it a couple of weeks of continuous folding and once you've passed 10 WU you should see the PPD jump up...

Well, my doughty 8400GS is folding away. I reckon this rig costs ~ 50p a day in electricity, and it looks like I'm going to get through my first GPU WU in ~ 24 hours, so I can probably afford that over the course of the weekend

I have: 720 core, 1820 shaders, 900Mhz DDR2 on the ram.

But since it's the G98 revision of the 8400GS, it only has 8 shaders to fold with, poor thing...

I know the RAM speed isn't meant to make any difference for folding but i found the other day that increasing its speed did have a positive effect on folding. It took around 3 mins off the total time compared to the stock RAM setting.

I've left my machine folding whilst I'm away from it for ~5 days, so that'll be 5 days of true 24/7 folding (no interruptions with gaming etc) which should be a nice little boost

Also, to whomever asked if the fermi client was giving out points again, answer is: yes.

Good idea but I got to 25 WUs before I noticed points were low

question to the folks out there folding on a fermi card - when you do help/about your client what version number does it show? I'm seeing 6.30r2

Not sure if this is the same as the current version 6.32. Please can someone check and get back to me?
