Right. If I get £60 for xmas then I might get a GTX570. Might mean I need to scrap the giving away of my 9800GTX, but if someone want sit for £15-£20 here I reckon that's a pretty good price, and I'd rather see it folding. It will do 6kppd so it's no slouch. Can't wait for 15k ppd

restored my system to stock levels and noticed a significant increase in my ppd rate...
This is absolutely genuine.
Anyone else tink that maybe, just maybe FAHMON has made a mistake?

You tried using HFM as well, do double check? Do the calculation yourself otherwise, take the average frame time over 5 frames, multiply by 100, then divide 24 hours by the time taken to do 1 WU, then multiply that by the credit for that WU.
Try 3.8 on the CPU maybe, slightly more conservative.
you got the link to HFM?

Image is a bit low res but does that say 962kppd? That's wrong
Also the GTX480 now seems to be getting 36kppd?
Post log file code with the credit for the unit and I'll work out real ppd if you want.

It's sorted itself out now. HFM does seem to give more accurate numbers than FAHmon on this machine. Shame because it works fine on my server... Might have a try at a complete windows 7 re-installation when I rebuild just to get it back to full fitness. Been a while since I did it, and it's the only thing that I've not tried yet.
I'm still only showing 66% utilisation on both of the GPU's. I'm running out of things that I can change.
IS there anything in my BIOS that might affect how the GPU's fold?

Feckin nailed it! Call of the hounds, cancel booking Scooby Doo and the other ystery solvers!
Absolutely stupid this.
REALLY nupty-esque.
I'm Seriously feckin GUTTED I didn;t spot this before....
Ashamed of myself.
It was the CPU utilisation settign in the configuration of the systray.
I'm off to sit in the corner and think about what I've done.

What was it? The CPU utilisation for the GPU client was low?
Reaaallly good to hear it's all good now. PPD?
Right, now onto a pressing matter. What do I upgrade to?
Got £220 atm, I'm thinking a GTX 460 and a 1055T which would get me about 20k ppd. Alternatively a GTX 570 and keep my current CPU which will get me roughly the same.
Thoughts?
I don't game an awful lot and my 9800GTX copes ok atm so what do we think?
I guess the 1055T and the GTX460 would use less power than my current CPU and GPU.
15k ppd per GTX 480 now and I've just amended the same settign on my server (GTX 295)
Looks like the task of chasing 1stRaven down has just started (Project "Catch that Pigeon").
I doubt it, but in case any of you are interested...
Phase 1 - "we got a bleeder" - resolve <100% usage issue. is complete... All kit is now running optimally.
Phase 2 - "Steve Austin" - Rebuild server with 980X CPU and GTX 295 from current server, then rebuild the gaming system when Core i7 970 arrives. Server components are assembled in the Gaming case, and the gaming componnents are assmebled in the server case-to-be. I now need to test the Server components and get them running, flash the bios, then swap all the bits over.
Phase 3 - "Jane Sommers" - Rebuild, repair and then reconcile cards. Fix my broken GTX 295, and install into the server. Install GTX 285 into server until either a water cooler for the card appears or a watercooled GTX 295 shows up.
Phase 4 - "Free Rocky" - (My Rock Extrreme CTX Pro Laptop is currently connected to the projector in the front room) Build GTX 295/Q6600 watercooled media centre PC for the Parlour
Phase 5 - "Frankenstein" - Build dedicated folding/benching rig from leftover bits

I don't think I can justify a GTX570, as it's 2 1/2 times the price of a GTX460 1GB but only gets 30% more ppd, so that's not a good efficiency rating if you ask me. I'll get the MSI GTX460 and a 1055T too I think.
I've seen GTX 480's for as low as £238 on Aria, and 470's even lower, so bearing in mind that the 4780 is roughly the same as a GTX 570, is that not a consideration?

Nah I'd go for the GTX570 then due to power consumption and temps. There is OC headroom on a stock cooler 570, there isn't on a 480. Think the GTX460 + 1055T makes sense. Managed to get an extra 700ppd out of my CPU today by raising clocks to 3.4ghz.
