We also have 2 cats - Ronnie and Regie, but they're not allowed in my room. I've got too much stuff stacked for them to be climbing and doing catty things in there. I am also allergic to them, but it's only if I'm in close proximity (ie holding them) now that that triggers my allergies off. Love them all to bits.

Mrs Teamsreth is concerned that I will leave it on all the time, but if I can cut down on the time, but still get through some WUs, that would be good.

Or, I might leave it on longer and do more.....

Either 560 or 6950. Tough choice.
If folding is your primary concern, then go with an Nvidia model.

If gaming is your primary focus, then find the fastest card for the money that you're willing to spend.

You can always just fold on your CPU.... I'm finding that actually yields more points so far than folding on my SLI GTX 480's...

I also like cats, problem is they don't like me they stare at you like the only difference between you and their next meal is that you will put up more of a fight, and my nose doesn't like them much either it always runs when I see them lol

    Also Tatty, nice boom box
Awww. Sorry to hear about the big C.

As for Cats, they do a simlar thing to me, except I AM their next meal ticket - they circle like sharks until they's been fed: Cue - Ruffus. Sometimes he's Ruffus is the only reason I get any peace from the dastardly feline duo. They can open the door, and often used to and let themselves in. I've found Regie curled up on my chair on many occasions pre dog, and behind my HAF932 case on one occasion. It was off, but still very warm.

The "boom box" is one of my relics from Uni. Bought it in 1992 for the princely sum of £225 from Dixons with my first grant cheque.... oh happy days The remote's buggered, but it works a charm! Still pumps out Pearl Jam and PWEI on occasion...

You need my main rig (haven't moved to server setup just yet). 6.2Tb's currently with a move coming up to move that to around 9tb's.

Ouch! That must take forever to back up! What do you back up onto?

Mine's designated a server, but it's still only running Win 7 X64 Home Edit. I've got a few Virtual machines set up on it, and I'm looking into installing some sort of Terminal Servers type software onto it next. Not sure what, but I'm looking into building a virtualised cluster for my Dev project, that is when I conclude all my hardware projects. It's pie in the sky at the moment, but one day....

Got to learn SQL server next.... Going to put in for that exam as soon as I've done the core Microsoft Dynamics Nav ones.... Gonna build me a Demand management tool...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Not sure I am doing this right. On my i5 750, I show 350ppd, and my average cpu useage is approx 25%.

Any ideas, as I have followed a couple of guides, and can't work out if that is right or not.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

On the subjet of nVidia v. ATi, I really miss the video features of my radeon, especially the deblocking was far superior to the nVidia cards I am running now (seriously a lot better, and as most of my video files are SD watched on my HD set it is really noticable), however until the new cores come out I am just about happy enough to stick with the two geforce cards.

On an unrelated note, can anyone suggest a method of mounting a Zalman CNPS8700 on an AM3 mobo without the clip, as I managed to loose the clip, and have had no response from Zalman yet regarding getting a replacement.

You are not running it in SMP mode, if you have allready added the "-smp" flag to the client or shortcut then either wait til the unit finishes or delete the work folder, and queue.dat and unitinfo files from your F@H folder and restart the client.

Edit: I would suggest re running the client config and adding the following:
    -smp
    -advmethods
    -forceasm

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Just after posting that, I rechecked, and although it had the -smp, it must have been wrong. Redid, and cleared the work, restarted and now shows an SMP client!

    Excellent!!!

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

It's not so much wrong as the client is odd, the smp client unless started in config only mode will always download a single core workunit at first run even if you specify -smp, and if you had left that unit running it would have downloaded a smp unit after it had completed that one.

Thanks for the help on this, looking forward to seeing the some decent output now.

    Backup???

Its a raid 5 array which helps but I have several 1Tb drives and an external caddy which they can hot swap into.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

    RAID ain't backup!

For something that size you could use rsync to external drives, that's what I do and it's really quick if the contents doesn't change much between backups.

Edit: Sorry, I think I may have misread that. I just switch to autopilot when I see RAID and backup in the same post.

I am fairly sure they are worth more points, though they are more likely to be unstable wu's though. However even with the flag set a very high proportion of my work units have been standard as they vastly outnumber the advmethod units and the adv units I have gotten have all been fine.

Effectively advmethods allows your client to receive work units that are in layman's terms in the final stages of beta testing before they are sent out to the general pubic.

For something that size you could use rsync to external drives, that's what I do and it's really quick if the contents doesn't change much between backups.

Edit: Sorry, I think I may have misread that. I just switch to autopilot when I see RAID and backup in the same post.
I was wondering if someone would bite.... lol.

Raid aint backup but it is a good step 1 solution for a drive failure, just never leave yourself with only 1 level of backup, unless you are not that miffed if you lose your data.

I do also use Gladinet which maps a drive to my sky drive and uses a backup sync to copy my critical data to the cloud.
