It sounds like you're typing into the wrong box Once again:

    1) Hold the Windows key and then press R
    2) In the box that pops up (small grey/white box, usually in the bottom left) type cmd.exe

Press OK or hit the enter key. Then a black box pops up (and stays open!). Type ping bbc.co.uk and press the enter key. The command will run and stay visible until you close the window. Like this:

    HTH.

Re: Your broadband speed - post here

Those pings are all over the place Definitely call Sky and ask about (quote) "changing the depths and delays on my line due to erratic latency". That will confuse the living daylights out of the script monkeys, and get you through to someone who knows what they're talking about Then just explain your pings are extremely high, and variable. If you have any other questions/issues, please start a new thread (we've derailed this one enough ).

New Be* connection. 3db Fastpath profile. Syncing at 19,646 currently. Fully stable.

Need a filtered faceplate to see if I can squeeze a little more out of her.

Edit: Compared to the Uni of Southampton, I'm on 56k And remember, you won't have been the only user on the network at that point either. Nice.

That doesn't tell him what package he's on though does it?

Looking at the posts in here, the Virgin upload speed is pretty poor. Seems only Be and O2 give decent speeds!

Why the Paris server? Try a London or Maidenhead one.

    My recent test.

Very dissappointed as my ping has gone up 1ms since this morning due to what I can only put down as congestion, which doesn't adhere to my stringent Be* speed standards
    It's slipping!

Would like to try an I-Plate out though Snahals results look interesting.
